Not even close to getting 06 OV. Like I refrain from saying it because I don't think GM's actually do this but if they did, this would be worthy of a "laughs and hangs up" type of response.

Blues and Montreal fans thoughts
Me personally? Not a chance.
We can dance around it all day but the truth is, the only reason Snuggerud is even being mentioned in a trade is because there isn't 100% chance he will sign his ELC with STL yet. Any GM knows this and won't give into STL moving him at full value. Why would they? The minute he signs his ELC with STL, all that goes away and then you can begin to discuss whether or not he is worth a top 5 pick in the draft. I still don't think so but you can at least have that discussion.

Trades, UFA's, RFA's, etc. there is lots of time between now and the start of next year. Things can change a lot. They could sign him now and have like 4-5 months to figure it out.

big changes
Can't imagine the Habs moving Armia to a division rival. He's kind of stuck in a weird place where he's played good enough for teams to notice and want him but the Habs also kind of would rather keep him if the return would end up just being a 3rd or something. Like no one will overpay for him but it would have to be an overpay for the Habs to move him.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SadSensFan14</b></div><div>He's spent time in the AHL while playing for Montreal, so he must not be that good. Way rather find literally anyone else to improve our scoring.</div></div>
Oct-Nov: you are right, he wasn't playing with enthusiasm and was an absolute drag on the team to the point of them sending him down to the AHL as a wake up call. He admitted to consulting with a mental coach to help get his game back to where it needed to be during his AHL stint. While sent down, immediately became the Laval rockets best player. Didn't sulk in the slightest and was a real pro about it. Got called backup and hasn't looked back. He's been engaged and playing some of the best hockey of his career and the stats reflect that.
So context matters. Players can go from cap dumps to valuable assets quite quickly nowadays. As mentioned above, I wouldn't pay the price the Habs would need for them to let him go but he certainly would be an attractive asset for teams who have actually watched him this year. He'd make an excellent 3rd/4th liner on a cup contender. There was a reason the Habs mgmt chose resigning him long term over Lehkonen at the time.

NHL GMs should offer sheet
Lundell has to be willing to accept the OS also. This offer is like pretty much what he'll get from the Panthers when you factor taxes into it. So its an easy no for him. (Logically speaking)
Going to SJ to be a bottom dweller for the foreseeable future making slightly more money but more taxes OR stay on a perennial cup contender and make a little less money now maybe but more in the long term.... Can't even say the weather is better as a main factor either.
That's why if you do OS someone, the money has to be sooooo much more than the player deserves for them to realistically accept. Just like UFA's, you have to overpay.
Want Lundell? Offer minimum 6.5-7M. Panthers couldn't match and Its a significant overpay that would make any player think twice about. Problem is you better be confident Lundell is a top end player because everyone thought KK was going to be amazing in Carolina and we all know how that is turning out.

Markstrom Hayes and trading down
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I see it as roughly
Tier I: Celebrini
Tier II: Levshunov, Demidov, Catton, Eiserman
Tier III: Buium, Connelly, Dickinson, Silayev, Lindstrom, Yakemchuk, Iginla, Helenius, Greentree, Brandsegg-Nygard, Boisvert, Parekh, Chernyshov, Jiricek
(A few of those guys bounce around between II and III)
So I would agree with SJS2212 in that the 6-15 range is a little similar and unless one of the top few fall, it could make some sense for NJD to move back and add an asset or two.
In the scenario above, they turned #10 pick into 3C, 4LW and still drafted Brandsegg Nygard (a guy that could have selected at #10). Most of our core is already built, thanks to years of high draft picks, so we mainly just have to address specific holes in lineup.
(Devils brass may have other plans…including trading the pick outright).</div></div>
Respectfully disagree with that tier 2 and 3. Having Jiricek in the same tier as guys like Buium and Parekh is.... a choice.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SJS2212</b></div><div>This is a draft where anything from 5-15 or so is about the same prospect caliber. It will all just be down to preference, which is why I don't think there are going to be a lot of teams looking to make big moves up the board unless a guy you have super high happens to fall 5+ spots. Pretty much everyone outside of Celebrini has a real wart to their game that makes them very risky (which is why this is viewed as a pretty weak draft class).</div></div>
I disagree about that range but that's just my amateur opinion of course. I think the top 3-10 are interchangeable only. After that it starts to be a little more grey.

Listening to the end of season press conference from Hughes and Gorton, the priority will definitely be on selecting a forward. But I guess you can never rule out picking another dman.
I think your expectations of where Catton drops is wrong. If some teams buy into the Cooley comparisons, he's long gone by 10th overall.</div></div>
Lets be clear I like Catton, I just don't think <strong>Habs</strong> will take him anywhere in the top 10. Someone else very well might though.

I wouldn't move from 10th to 14th for anything less than a late 1st (Post lottery with no change) which may be too much for a team to swallow. NJ is going get a core piece of their future at 10 IMO. Not sure they will at 14. Not saying that is "fair" value just that it would have to be absurd value to make that downgrade. IMHO the top 10 are locks. May even extend to 12 but after that I feel there is a drop off. Not necessarily in talent but in likelihood of reaching potential.
Kind of reminds me of the 2011 draft. If you got top 10, you don't trade down.

I think based on 6th OV finish and Habs management and drafting history, its going to be Iginla and its not even going to be close to being Catton unless they trade down to 10-14.
Lindstrom/Demidov if they're available are the top realistic options but doubt they will be. If neither are available at 6 and Iginla too which I doubt, It'll be a dman. Seems like Parehk or Yakemchuk being the likely candidates.
I still think its Iginla though when it's all said and done.

I understood fine, it was the sum of parts leading to the 5-6 Ov at the end. Which went through NJ's pick at 10th then to the 5th-6th. So i just combined it all to simplify.
Either way you look at it, my opinion remains. Outside 14ish getting into top 10 is going to hurt. i;e more than what you showed here. At least IMO.

Off Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>I honestly don't hate this trade. Pulock is basically RD2 now with Dobson being a guy I can see getting a handful of Norris votes this year; if we can swap him out for a young, top-6 forward like Perfetti while also getting someone to backfill RD2 for a year, I think it's a good deal. I'd think about swapping Nate Schmidt instead of Pionk, for two reasons: first, hoping that it makes it appetizing enough to Winnipeg to drop the 3rd from the Isles side; second, I think Schmidt replicates what the Isles would be losing with Pulock better than Pionk does. But that's a minor quibble at this point.</div></div>
Im fairly certain, swapping Schmidt for Pionk would make WPG need to send you additional assets back, not just remove the 3rd. Its a pretty vast difference between Pionk's value and Schmidts. Whether or not he's the player that fits better.

No bitten bullets
I can only speak for myself obviously but if I have a 3-12 pick this year, the price for a team to move from 15-16 into the top 12 is going to hurt a lot more than evolving wilds draft pick valuation for example. Thusly, I don't think quantity of picks will be enough for any team to give up 5/6 Ov. If its essentially STL 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and Robertsson for 5/6th Ov, I would decline without a seconds notice. None of those teams 1-8 need more picks at the cost of 1 excellent one. You'll need to add 1 better piece at the cost of at the very least the extra 2nd, 3rd and Robertsson.
Again, that's me. Maybe someone else goes "More darts at the dart board! Weeeeeeee!".

UFA vets to complete top 6
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jay27</b></div><div>Idk, Stammer is great and all but I just don’t think it’s a great idea to go out and spend 10.5 a year for the next 3 years on a guy who’s 34 years old. Also I know +\~ is an archaic stat and all but has anyone else noticed that he is a ~21 on a team that has a +25 goal differential?</div></div>
He's not what he used to be and that's fine. His value is his experience and leadership more than his scoring even though that's still pretty good. He's going to teach the young group how to win and what it takes to be excellent instead of just good. This is a young team about to get younger once some other vets leave and we're going to need that "guy" that everyone in the room respects, including Suzuki. They need someone to look up to whose been there and done that and Stammer would be the absolute best chance we have at someone like that. And frankly, the only reason we'd have even a slight chance at him is because of MSL.
Yes the Habs could use a legit weapon like Reinhart or whatever but truthfully we aint going to get anyone in their prime. But I think captain, cup winner, megastar, even at his age would do wonders for the core of this group which will be the ones that lead us to the promise land if we do.
Plus all the best options for the Habs are guys who are going to want long term contracts. If Habs draft a forward this year, we'll be absolutely stacked up front for the next decade almost. We need guys for the now and short term only. Since cap space is not an issue, we can afford to go high on a short term deal for a guy like Stammer. By the time we really need cap space, he'll be gone.

Savard, Armia, Dvorak, Evans + cap increase should be enough. Not to mention that Anderson is likely gone one way or another. They'd be fine.
Im all for adding Stamkos at whatever number he wants as long as its short term. Toffoli will get more than that though and frankly I'd be ok with just Stamkos. Newhook deserves the other top 6 mins off the hop here IMO. Dvorak-Armia-Roy on 3rd line. Evans Gally and whoever on 4th.

Lets be honest, there is no real good trade comps for Brady. Any trade done likely would require setting a new precedence.
And while the Bratt, Nemec package from earlier was clearly wayyy too much, this trade above is going silly in the other direction. Any trade involving Tkachuk consists of one piece that makes you go "no way we include that". It has to hurt for it to be realistic.

He'll be an absolute beast if he can find his way as a center. No doubt in my mind he can play center but he needs reps more than anything right now. Needs to stop getting injured all the time. If he can't stay healthy he'll be a winger going forward. Its still early though. Just needs to stay healthy to prove it first.

Krug like Gallagher in MTL is an untradeable asset at this point in their careers. Buyout or a very limited role for remainder of contract is all you can do at this point.
He clearly can still play PP so might as well give him all those minutes and play him as a 5-6th dman 5v5. Hopefully the PP points outweigh the defensive ineptitude.

Depending on where this 1st lands could potentially decide it for me. If Philly goes on a losing streak to end the year and finishes like 13th, I think i would do this If I were OTT. And believe me, I love Tkachuk as a player.
IMO Philly would be insane to do it though. Regardless of their season success, they are rebuilding and should keep all young assets for now. Adding Tkuchuk at the cost of JF and TK is not an immediate upgrade.

Offersheeting Quinton Byfield because Marc Antoine Godin and Arpon Basu said so
I mean anyone can offer an offer sheet to any RFA. They have to accept it. I doubt LAK are going to low ball Byfield so their offer won't be so much lower than this so what's the point of him accepting a couple extra bucks to play for a worse team?
I think Arpon and MAG were chasing views with that one. Aside from OS being unlikely, that one seems very unlikely of happening for every other reason.
Lundell for example would be at least possible depending on the offer. You'd have to make the offer so high for Byfield to leave LAK that it wouldn't be worth it.
