Why are the Habs doing either of these?

Putting aside the fact that San Jose can't retain on any trade, I don't see the Sharks trading Vlasic and taking on a similar contract unless they get a cap savings somewhere, and this results in their getting a cap loss in each of the three seasons at issue.

Nah, Vlasic has one less year, get's us closer to the Salary floor, and is as useful (or rather useless) of a player as Anderson. no reason for this kind of deal

Anderson is more valuable than Vlasic. Vlasic has zero chance of contributing - anderson needs a change of scenery.

What's your point? Mine was that San Jose doesn't consider this for a minute.

By the way, aren't they both averaging about 0.25 ppg? Aren't they both about the same on plus-minus? Doesn't Vlasic average almost a minute more time on ice than Anderson?

Are you actually a Habs fan!?

Because that is a sensational deal for Philly. Hell yes.

You clearly haven't watched Vlasic. He's been very decent the last two years. Anderson has like 2-3 good seasons in his career, at least you know what you're getting with Vlasic.
Sharks would much rather buy him out in the last year or two

"Wrong" about what?

Wrong that San Jose wouldn't do this?

Wrong that San Jose can't retain on any trade because they're used up their three retention slots?

Wrong that San Jose won't trade Vlasic without getting some cap benefit?

Wrong that this proposed trade would result in a cap loss to San Jose in each of the three seasons at issue?

Because that's all I said.

Ahh, there's nothing like a homer. Especially when confronted with unpleasant but indisputable facts.

but i actually do think you are wrong. anderson has a lot more value than vlasic. i get it - he's having a massive down year, but i do think that trade would happen. agree to disagree.

Yeah Habs aren't doing any of those. These miss the mark completely. The goal in either scenario can be achieved for either cheaper or a better return if needed.

Every year has been a down year for him other than 18-19. He's a 3rd/4th liner making 2nd line money. Vlasic is a middle pairing d-man making 1st pairing d-man money.
