I looked at John Marino’s analytics and they’re goddamn awful. I legit wouldn’t trade a 2nd for him.

Holtz has generally struggled with the pace of the game , he can still be a decent to great player but he’s a risk.

The pick is good but it falls right outside the high tier of players. So you’d be picking between like Greentree, Nygard those type of players

Marino's metrics are better than Chychrun's who ottawa paid a 1st+2nd+2nd for btw

If by centerpiece you mean 1 for 1 maybe

The Sens would never do that. Bratt-Stutzle-Batherson would be by far the softest line in the league. Might as well rebuild

      Nope they are not.

Also Chychrun has been miscast here and was better under DJ than under Martin by far

Bradys comp is his brother not eichel

Matthew (and Eichel) are both more valuable players than Brady. It’s just that Eichel’s injury and desire to leave Buffalo knocked him down a notch to Brady’s value.

Lets be honest, there is no real good trade comps for Brady. Any trade done likely would require setting a new precedence.

And while the Bratt, Nemec package from earlier was clearly wayyy too much, this trade above is going silly in the other direction. Any trade involving Tkachuk consists of one piece that makes you go "no way we include that". It has to hurt for it to be realistic.

I do. With maybe each team throwing in a pick or two if they feel the deal needs tweaking.

You’re missing the context buddy. It got very ugly between Eichel and the Sabres . He wanted to pick a surgery that Buffalo did not want him to have . A lot of teams were worried about that surgery and if he’d ever be the same player again and how long his recovery time would be .

Only Vegas was okay with it . That surgery brought his value down like 80% .

No way Tuch would’ve been a centerpiece had he been healthy. You’d probably have been looking at a top 30-40 player ++

      Trying to look at it from OTT's perspective;

This is a team that desperately wants to make the jump to being a playoff contender. They have good young pieces and players entering their prime that should keep them relevant for a while if they can level up. If they do consider trading Brady (and I'm not sure why they would unless he's asking out), I think it will definitely be for a comparable player or package of players that will help the Sens win-now. I don't think Holtz + 2025 1st will be the type of significant pieces they're looking for.

IMO the centrepiece from NJD would be Bratt.

      Or….

….the centerpiece for Bratt would be Tkachuk

      What math?

I was literally following it from the start.

10 mill was a lot for many teams to fit in , there was only like 5 teams that were able to make that move. Eichel literally only wanted to go to like 2 teams. He wanted to have a dangerous surgery that Buffalo was against and even the rangers didn’t want. It dragged on too long , things got ugly . Vegas kept circling back and they got him at a steal of a price. There was no bidding war , Vegas was bidding against themselves and were okay with letting Eichel not play a year of hockey

Not a chance Sens take any of Kyrou, Bratt or Necas for Brady

Again Meier legit was gonna be a ufa and no acquiring team was gonna trade for him without an extension. So again Meier chose where he was willing to sign

It’s really not the same as a guy with term left lmao

That was literally listed in my pros and cons of each player. Meier was an RFA*

And yes, that does impact value. Not nearly as much as you seem to think it does.

In your mind NJD would somehow think:

"Meier is willing to sign with us so we get him for 9 years at an 8.15 mill AAV, but he's only willing to sign with 5 other teams so we'll take our offer down a few 1sts"

      And Florida thought:
"well we'd be getting a 100 point superstar for 8 years at 9.5 million, but there's only 3 other teams bidding so we'll risk missing out on him and take our offer down a few 1sts"

      Again.

NJD was willing to go up to the price they did for 9 years of meier at 8.15 mill AAV.
NJD was willing to go up to Simon Nemec for 8 years of Matthew Tkachuk at 9.5 mill AAV
NJD will have a price they'll be willing to go up to for Brady Tkachuk at 8.2 mill

Other bidders doesn't make any individual team increase the max price they'll offer. It simply increases the likelihood that a team has a higher max price.

And once you get to 2 bidders, it will be a bidding war regardless. 2 bidders is still a bidding war

4 bidders willing to pay 2 million dollars for a house is better than 20 bidders willing to pay 1 million dollars for a house.

There was ALWAYS a difference in price between a guy with term and a pending UFA.

You don’t think if Debrincat had 4 years instead of 2 years left he would’ve been traded for even more? If Debrincat only had a year left and wanted to hand pick his teams like he did , his value would’ve been exactly what the Sens traded him to Detroit for.

Could certainly be other pieces…but goal here was to establish a comp (Eichel) and then fit pieces that match.

Any picks, prospects, and almost anyone (save obvious names) from roster would be available.

Debrincat's value went down significantly because he went from a 45 goal, 82 point pace his last 2 years in Chicago to a 27 goal 66 point season.

Debrincat to Ottawa trade would be another comp of a winger.

This time you have the same age
      -Cat better point production
      -Cat better goal production
-Cat cheaper contract short term and potential for cheaper long term

      Tkachuk
      -more physical
      -more of a goon

No it was also bevsuse he only wanted to go to Detroit and there was no bidding war. Yzerman basically offered his price and said take it or leave it . And there was no one else offering anything other than Pageau, Wahlstrom and a 1st which was even worse .

Yes, if you have 1 bidder that is not a bidding war.

Neither Matthew Tkachuk or Meier fit that category as they both had multiple teams bidding.
There WAS a large bidding war for Debrincat with many teams involved when Chicago sold him. And yet a 24 year old 45 goal PPG winger didn't return an obnoxious haul like you suggest?

You seem to be under the impression that Brady Tkachuk would be the only player to ever have multiple teams bidding on him?

Frame it however you like. Top line forward for top line forward, possibly with a couple other minor pieces involved to even things out. I'm not saying that deal would happen, but if I'm in the Sens position it's the type of deal I'd be after.

The Sens are not trading a 6’4 power forward for a 5’10 small soft winger no matter how skilled he is. Brady would never be traded for Marner, Bratt, Necas , Kyrou or any of these guys.

The Sens will never get softer like that

      Brady, White, 1st for Eichel

Brady, White, prospect 1st for Eichel

Brady, player or prospect, 1st for Eichel

I think for me if the sens are trading Tkachuk, they need to get 2 pieces who can make up for his impact on the aggregate and then some. It would be a lot more enticing if it was Mercer instead of Holtz, and the 2024 1st instead of 2025, but it has to be worth setting the sens timeline back a few years. If they are trading Tkachuk they are probably also committed to trading Batherson, Giroux and guys like Jospeh as well, which is doable, but if we move our best player there needs to be an avenue to elevate the ceiling of the team down the line and I dont think this does that as is

Yes I wanted him. But Buffalo wanted Sanderson and we weren’t at a stage to do a deal like that

I’d rather get a piece to build around . Like it has to start with a Nemec or top 6 pick imo for me to consider

The Sens are not trading a 6’4 power forward for a 5’10 small soft winger no matter how skilled he is. Brady would never be traded for Marner, Bratt, Necas , Kyrou or any of these guys.

The Sens will never get softer like that

Bratt may be small, he is 5’10”…but not at all soft.

Again you’re undervaluing Brady. I didn’t see you had the 2025 pick instead of the 2024 pick . Not a chance Sens ever ever consider that.

Not a single piece is good in that deal.

Marino is a scrub not even close to what Tuch was worth

That deal gets u laughed at for our captain.

The Sens aren’t doing a deal without a young STUD piece to build around

Yeah like if the devils would be willing to include Nemec then its a totally different conversation as to what the other pieces are, but there needs to be something (somethings) we need/can use down the line in a significant role
