Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 16, 2024
Published: Apr. 16, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My idea for San Joe to take a step. Lol. Hopefully they get #1 overall pick, but from what I read its not guaranteed. This is more of a stop gap, a lot of expiring contracts, hopefully some value. 2025-2026, they can start competing for a bubble spot with young blood.

Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Fabbri, Robby
  2. Holl, Justin ($1,500,000 retained)
  3. Husso, Ville
  4. Kasper, Marco
Additional Details:
Detroit needs cap space for there 2 studs. San Joe can help with that.
2.
SJS
  1. Faulk, Justin
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
St Louis is looking to change up the backend. I think San Joe can take advantage, and get a decent player to help on D.
3.
SJS
  1. Orlov, Dmitry
Additional Details:
CAR has a lot of UFA. Granlund can join the FIN crew and Burroughs can replace whoever they loose. Orlov will help the D and the young Russian D we have.
4.
SJS
  1. Merzlikins, Elvis ($2,500,000 retained)
  2. 2024 1st round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
This is kind of a best case scenario trade. Columbus have so many prospects, they don't need another. They need better goaltending. Blackwood probably won't resign in CA, so give him a chance on a young team.

I'd love Kasper.

But unfortunately, Yzerman isn't a complete moron.

What kind of absurd nonsense is that pathetic excuse for a Jackets trade? That wouldn't be considered for anything short of a perrential Vezina contender on a sweetheart deal; expecting Mackenzie Blackwood of all people to carry that kind of value is homerism of the worst possible kind. You should be feeling deeply ashamed for ever even considering posting such garbage.

You can have Holl and Fabbri for free.

Otherwise we'll keep Fabbri and buyout Holl.

Canes pass. Orlov was brought in last year so we wouldn’t be scrambling to find a stop gap between Skjei and Nikishin this offseason. He’ll just be moved up to the 2nd pair when Skjei probably walks.

Oh boy I didn't see that Jackets trade. 🤣

Canes laugh and hang up. 😬

Zadina has done ok but he still doesn't have much trade value.

I still recall the Canucks draft table laughing when Holland drafted Zadina.

They were more than happy to take Quinn Hughes.

So…let me get this straight…we trade Elvis AND retain 50% while we also give up a top 5 pick and we get Blackwood who is a throw away…I really can’t believe you actually think this is fair…

I'm voodoo-ing it away from Washington as we speak.

I mean, come on...remove the 1st and the Jackets still laugh and say no.

Blackwood isn't worth anywhere near a first. Good, not CBJ top 5 pick good. Wouldn't even give that up for Bobrovsky

The OP's followup of this with a Jackets AGM that includes a similarly atrocious Boone Jenner trade now has me convinced we're dealing with a troll. There's just no conceivable way someone could legitimately in good faith think of such moves as good deals.

Yeah this is nowhere near close but you have to admit that Kasper is approaching Holtz prospect status. He had a good SHL season but not amazing, and really not a very good AHL season. At least with Holtz he dominates at the AHL level, but looks a full step behind at the NHL level.

Like Holtz, I think he has some great tools, but man he's gotta put it together next year

What kind of defenseman is Burroughs? I'd be fine with that trade assuming we'd be opening cap space for resigning Skjei short term

Kasper is our future 3C he's putting up close to a half a point per game in GR, That's all you expect out of your 3C and he's a solid 200 foot player with some snarl to his game.

Again, I love his game but I think a lot of people talk about him still as a blue-chip prospect when, as you said, he projects as a solid point producing 2-way 3C. He has better offensive tools than what (little) I've seen than his production. I think he absolutely needs to increase his production to be as valuable as what people saw him as when he was drafted.

Kasper is fine he's in his D+2 year while Holtz is in his D+4 season, Plus Kasper missed some time at the beginning of the season with a broken knee cap. I'd probably give him another season in GR we're fine for now. Unless he really blows it away in training camp this fall.

Faulk isn't waiving for San Jose. And there's nothing in there that would garner the Blues moving a 3rd for, let alone moving Faulk for. I get the idea, but the value is wacky to say the least.

This dude who's not even a Sharks fan just pissed off every fanbase in the league lmao

For the record, these make no sense for SJ either. Like if they trade Granlund they'll be getting picks not ANOTHER LD

Can't imagine Faulk waives, though I guess it's possible the chance to post up in Cali could be cool. But yeah, it seems like he'd pass.
