I hit publish to many times sorry
I like soucy and would be cool with him on our bottom pair, but unless we are making multiple trades moving out defensemen, we just dont have space to bring him in and certainly not spend a 2nd on him.

Maybe, it would depend on how our FO saw the top defensemen in this draft compared to Jiricek and if they wanted to wait the additional time for the new draft pick to be ready.

Im not saying they are equal value, just that the other pieces you have wont get him. To trade him we would need either a young 1RD or a young top line player. The only position that is more valuable than 1RD is 1C.

The only thing that CHI has that can get them Jiricek is Bedard, and thats not going to happen. Laine wont be traded at his lowest value unless he requests a trade. Since that hasnt happened there is no reason for the Jackets to trade him unless someone wants to overpay.

Maybe if the pick was 4th or later, but i still think that offer could be beat at the TDL. id do it if it we werent sending a pick at all. Retained Provorov for a 1st.
Just realized that i think i read your comment wrong. You mean yall adding a pick coming to us. No that wouldnt move the needle much.

The jackets have no want or need for Kampf. We wouldnt take him for free, i would be surprised if any team would give up anything for him.

although i dont necessarily want to keep him, if we have to retain and all we are getting is upgrading a 2nd to a 1st, id probably just say we keep him and see if we can get more at the TDL.

Rossi to CBJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>That's not what you said. You said if the Wild trade Rossi it's because he can't be a 2C, and that's not true.
If you're trading Johnson for Rossi, first, I'm not actually sure you are providing an upgrade for Minnesota, and two, it's because you want a 2C, not a 2LW.
If you don't want to do it, that's fine with me, for the same reasons outlined above.</div></div>
If the wild are trading Rossi it means they dont see him as being their 2C of the future, and instead want to leverage him to a team for an upgrade. If they are trading Rossi for KJ, then they see KJ as an upgrade. If the wild thought he was a good 2C going forward, they wouldnt trade him because thats a high value position that isnt easy to find.

We already know he can be a 2C because he did it last year.</div></div>
right so if we are the ones providing that upgrade, then thats not good for us.

Getting a new goalie and a higher draft pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaun80</b></div><div>In any other draft year I'd probably agree with you.</div></div>
It doesnt matter if you agree or think this draft year is different. No gm is taking a late first to drop 5 spots and out of the top 5 in any draft.

Rossi to CBJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CBJ0521</b></div><div>size is the main thing I was thinking of that would hurt if we added a guy like rossi. I'd also sign up for Fantilli - Lindstrom - Silly - Vronk for sure. That's a tough group to deal with, especially with all the speed/skill we'll have on the wings</div></div>
I just dont think Rossi is a good fit for us, especially if it costs KJ. Also, If the wild are trading Rossi its because they dont think he can be their 2C, which is not a good sign for us if we are the ones trading for him to be our 2C.

the better chance at one and more choices, like i said. Its the whole value that comes from picking earlier in the draft. It what you would paying for if you traded up, which would certainly cost more than a late 1st. No team is taking that trade.

right but we are getting a better one at 4 than 9. or at least the better chance at a great player and more choices.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaun80</b></div><div>Lose all the goalies from the swap and it's a pretty fair value trade. If Columbus has a specific player in mind then it doesn't make any sense for them. But skill wise most scouts have 4-11 all in the same group. So you'd still be getting a high end player. Personally I'd rather the Flames just pick the BPA at 9th.</div></div>
a late first isnt worth dropping from 4 to 9.

Getting a new goalie and a higher draft pick
Jackets easily pass. We dont need to bring in more prospects, we need higher end ones that we would get with a top 5 pick. We are one of the worst teams in the league and one of the youngest, we have no reason to trade for a 34 year old goalie.

Marner will not waive, especially not to cbus. He also isnt worth Jiricek 1 for 1, let alone adding KJ. A marner trade to the jackets just doesnt make any sense.
