Why don't you people bother looking at the other team's cap situation before constructing trades by asking what players you'd like from the other team? It's really not that hard, and wouldn't take up more than 10 seconds of your time.</div></div>
im making a post about the leafs, not the kings. the kings can move salary to other teams to make room for marner.

hurts to see this without sandin
Sandin likely wouldn’t have been in the Leaf’s top 6 when they’re fully healthy. I think they did right by the player by putting him in an environment where he’ll get the opportunity to play top 4 minutes on a competitive team.

Why would the leafs trade a cost controlled defencemen beyond this year who will also be an rfa when his contract expires in 2024 for a UFA defencmen who will be more expensive and isn’t really better?

Will Nashville sell with Askarov in the pipeline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>If NSH wants to truly bottom out and tank properly, then yeah trading Saros would be smart. His play is what's keeping NSH a mediocre team right now. With just a league average goalie, they'd be a bottom feeder right now.
This package isn't the haul for NSH you think it is though. The Leafs don't have the futures to get a Saros trade done. Their 1st is going to be too far back in the draft (presumably with a top 3 goalie, TOR can make it out of the first round this year), and they don't have a top prospect to offer.</div></div>
a future top 4 defencemen and a future top 9 winger, and a late first wouldn't get it done? i admit, I wouldn't know what an elite goalie would cost in a trade as there arent many comparables

saros is much better than samsonov, and is a 914 over a larger sample size in the playoff relative to him. i think most people would be far more comfortable with saros in net than samsonov

He’s been phenomenal this year, way better than I thought. It’s games like last night where I worry. Good enough for one period, but his goaltending in the final two periods worries me.

I get that, but Nashville at best is a bubble playoff team. They’re not open to a full blown rebuild, but they should look to shed assets to get higher draft picks

The logic makes some sense though, given Nashville’s struggles this year. At some point they have to accept that they aren’t winning with their current core and will have to sell some assets

Do you think so? He was vezina finalist last year with cap control. Goaltending is the most important position, you cant go anywhere without it.

Yeah, maybe McCabe at 2?
Edit: Maybe with a 2.3m Chychrun things would be easier but I don't see that as a viable option for the Leafs.</div></div>

That’s not even close to what Arizona is asking for chychrun. My suggestion would be to do a bit of research to see what the asking price is around before making a proposal

We should be talking about trading Rielly before giving him that awful contract and then replacing him with Chychrun.</div></div>

I think we could sign bunting and hyman. Chychrun was just an idea, I do agree that 7.5 for Reilly isn’t what I want to pay him considering how the rest of our roster is constructed.

Buddy, crouse is on pace for 29 goals and engvall is on pace for 16. Keep in mind crouse plays for one of the worst teams in the league.

Honestly with "reports" that Hughes has turned down large offers, and the overall consensus that Anderson is an oversized paperweight, I just can't see him being moved for another 2-3 seasons unless it's something we can't say no to.
I just can't see him moving anywhere at this point, the sell point and buy point are just too far apart.</div></div>
Makes sense, if nobodies offering too much for him, then it makes more sense for Anderson to stick around and play out his contract anyways until his value increases, or he helps the team in some way

He's not a corner grinder, he's not good in front of the net and he'd be a terrible fit with marner and tavares. He's John Mitchell with a better shot. and if you add a terrible defender to a good defensive team they become a weak spot. He's a horrible fit for the leafs, and any contender.</div></div>
I guess we just see different players then. He’s streaky, injury prone , doesn’t have great hands or hockey iq, but he’s a hard working, physical forechecker with a mean streak who can lay the body and lead the leafs in hits. He looked great for Montreal at times in their finals run, and I think more production will come with JT and Marner.
