Philly isn’t really seeing this as that good of a deal honestly

Don't think Columbus does that after signing Gudbranson and Gaudreau

Cap-compliant this year but next year will be tough especially if we want to re-sign Miller. Plus 200k is not a realistic way to operate the cap. Very little flexibility.

The cost doesn't bother me for Miller so much as Peeke is probably redundant as soon as next season, but the Jackets just cannot afford to take on Miller + Myers even with retention and including Nyquist. More cap moves would have to occur to make it work and I don't know that there's enough places to move cap to do it.

It's just barely compliant. Year 2 is the tricky part.

Don’t see Van taking either trade, there’s really nothing in that package that would entice Van enough to move miller and Myers isn’t a cap dump so they’re not gonna retain on him and take back nyquist. Pearson for Laughton 1 for 1 would make sense but can’t see Van adding much if anything to it

Zero interest in taking on Miller under any circumstances short of "Vancouver gets massively ripped off and it's cap neutral or better for the Jackets." It's not worth it for us to give up the sorts of assets folks are asking for

So you're giving up Miller for one year of Nyquist on the fourth line, the most average 3c in the league in Laughton, and a guy who played big minutes but was absolutely horrendous in them in Peeke???

Miller definitely isn't getting the 4 firsts some people think he is, but VAN can certainly do better than that

In the flat cap world, Myers is a cap dump especially with two years left on the deal. Nyquist frees up cap when he expires where as Myers wouldn't. Then you re-sign Peeke, etc with that space and utilize it further where we saw the Kraken take Bjorkstrand for pennies.

There's one asset and that's Peeke. Not sure what other assets there are. This isn't one of those Peeke, Johnson and 1st + 2nd rounds deals.

Then why hasn't that happened? Canucks have signed another bottom 6 forward to close to 5m and can't afford Miller next year as is. They cap tied themselves for next year! It's actually baffling and teams know this.

It may not be the prettiest return but it fills needs and Peeke is young. Pairing him with Hughes makes his job much easier. The cap space is important too.

Hell, the Canucks could have had Bjorkstrand instead of Mikheyev.... For scraps!

Texier is a major asset. Cap space (of which you have left us with near-nil because of throwing in Meyers) is a MASSIVE asset.
