Blue Jackets
I would do this trade as a Jackets fan. I think the value is also good for Calgary. But I have a feeling Lindholm is extending. Conroy comes across as a guy that can convince him to stay.
Edit: I would avoid signing Killorn though. Taking away a spot from Chinakhov.

True but I thought it might be better because its an expiring deal on a very reasonable cap hit for only a 3rd rounder. FA usually means too much money and term.

The Blow Up
CBJ decline. Not giving up 3OA and Kent Johnson, 2 potential solutions to the first-line center problem we've had since joining the league, for 2 years of Marner.

It's going to cost us a lot more to offload Gudbranson. I would do this trade in a heartbeat. What a dumb signing smh

Jackets would be running to accept that trade. No chance the Ducks do it though.

Realistic Offseason
We're good on Grzelcyk tbh. He's 29 and plays the left side. I'd rather just keep the pick and try to sign Graves or Gavrikov in FA. Or go for a younger option like Girard or Hanifin (if he's available).

Move the 3rd round pick from the Schmaltz trade to the Girard trade?

Yeah spot on I think. I think Boqvist gets first crack at the top since he's been there all camp. Chinakhov is in a great position to shine.

Looking ahead
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>Yes, I read your description. You said next season. Danforth is still signed for another year. Also, if this is for 2023-2024, then you should label it as such. It says 22-23 at the top. I assumed Nyquist's deal was allowed to expire and that Voracek was moved out in the offseason, since again, you did in fact say in your description that this is for next season. And as such, I reiterate: where's Blankenburg?</div></div>
>"This could very well be our starting line-up next season. Though most likely we have another 2 years to wait."
I didn't commit to any timeframe. This is just a look-ahead to our roster when all our prospects are ready to go. Not for a particular year. I'm just projecting for fun. Not that serious.

It's a look-ahead post. Did you not notice the lack of Voracek and Nyquist lol

Definitely finishing behind Tampa, Florida, Toronto, Carolina. Probably also NYR and Pittsburgh. If they take someone's spot this year it will be either Boston's or Washington's imo.

I really think Marchenko is ready for the NHL. I would even argue he's a better player right now than Chinakhov and KJ. Other than that, I think it looks about right.

Ahh I see. I have it at 4.5x4, 2.5x2, and 1.5x2. But regardless I think we would have the same approach to Miller as we would Johnny. If you can get a player like that, you figure the rest out later. Worst case scenario Tex/Peeke are signed to QOs

Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Forgot I had Peeke already signed in the one I put together. Still though, I only see $9.6 mil to re-sign Gavy, Tex, Peeke and one more player to get to a 23 man roster. I think they'd end up 2-3 mil over the cap again if it optimistically goes up to 84 mil. If it only goes up to 83.5 then they're down to 9.1 in space.</div></div>
How much are you signing them to? I think we'll be fine since only Gavy is a UFA. Jarmo usually gets good deals on RFAs.

Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Definitely would be tough to re-sign him. If he signs for $8.5 mil they would be left with about $7.4 mil for their ufas and rfas. I don't see them being able to keep Gavrikov and Texier with that little space left. Either Gavy is being traded elsewhere or allowed to walk or Texier would have to be worked into the deal or Voracek would have to be traded with assets to make cap space.</div></div>
It's 18.5M if you trade Roslovic and let Nyquist walk. -8.5M so have 10M for Gavy, Tex etc.

Cap situation is actually pretty good. 18.5M - 8.5M for Miller leaves 10M with the only big extension being Gavrikov and maybe Texier if he breaks out.

Only reason Jackets accept this if Monahan is LTIR the rest of his contract and we get Miller/Kadri etc. Otherwise we can afford Jake this year and can trade him retained next year for assets when he has only 1 year left.
