Thanks for the suggestions! I changed it to Utah (for posterity, it was Bean to Calgary for a 4th originally).

Necas trade ideas
Less than zero chance that Columbus moves Jiricek for Necas, or anybody short of the league's tippy-top tier. He's a future star at RD; those don't get traded.

I disagree, honestly. I think new management and new coaching could bring out a lot from Elvis, and I think he's been given a bum rap by a lot of fans. But who knows?

We have stocked up on a bunch of 5-7 D-men both through trades and waiver claims. We also got a bunch of AHL prospects knocking on the door.</div></div>
Thanks for the feedback! Any other teams you can think of who'd be a reasonable candidate for someone like Bean?

If he's not, then that's how you get Malatesta up to the NHL level with KJ on IR. I'm assuming he is.

Columbus declines. We'll probably sign Cam once his contract with you runs out, but we're not taking on nearly $6M in AAV for a 5th-rounder next year.

Columbus is already overstocked on the wings with 40-pt types, even if Tomasino is a good player and this seems like a reasonable price. Another team would be a better fit.

With a quickness. That'd be a great return for Boqvist, and it'd balance our contract pool nicely.

Speaking as a CBJ fan, I'm not high on how Mesar's game has been since the Habs drafted him. As a result, if I were in the GM's seat and Mesar was the prospect coming back, I'd push for 5OA this year and Calgary's 25 1st-rounder instead of Colorado's 2nd-rounder this year, which is essentially a 3rd-round pick. I'm sure there'd be some give and take there, but moving up in the top 5, even a single slot, is exceptionally rare, and therefore exceptionally pricey.

Not as sold on the Fabbro trade, tho, but that's mostly because I think Fabbro should be playing alongside Josi.</div></div>
Only if they are trading out Elvis, too, but if so, sure, why not.

And this surely is not the right price. Needs to be a whole lot more; his worth to Columbus is way past what he brings on the ice. The correct price for Jenner is "so much that your team will feel a lot of pain giving it up".

No interest from Columbus in that deal. No idea what you were thinking would happen here. EDIT TO PROVIDE CONTEXT: CBJ already have a glut in the D corps, and they're not contending this year, so they won't be interested in adding a rental.

I don't mind losing Roslovic, Peeke, or Blanks, but I straight-up hate the idea of moving out Marchy. This isn't a path the Blue Jackets should pursue, IMO.

Ripp
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hopefullynextyear</b></div><div>I disagree with this. I like the idea of having 2 (true) veteran centers in there to mentor the young guys, however this leaves you with Fantilli, Sillinger, Voronkov, Kuraly, Backlund all as true centers. Plus Roslovic, Jenner, Johnson and possibly Laine as guys that prefer or are better suited for the position. Add in the cost of a former first round pick that hopefully turned the corner late in the season, a second and third rounder all for a guy that is likely gone after one year or maybe the deadline and I just don't see how this makes sense for us. Maybe at the cost of Roslovic and a second I am on board with it, but this feels like way too much to give up to likely miss the playoffs and not add a long term piece.</div></div>
Jenner is best as a winger (who can take faceoffs), Roslovic's proven he has no business in the middle, Voronkov could break in on the wing for now before moving to the center, Laine is absolutely not best used in the middle, and Johnson's not ready for high-lineup duty in the middle yet.
Foudy is a bottom-6 winger at best, and is well worth the price. Backlund has experience with Gaudreau, and could allow Fantilli to take lower-leverage shifts early in his career. Plus, Backlund is good on the dot. And who knows? Maybe he extends.

Take out Vladar and the 2nd rounder, and I would hope the Blue Jackets pull the trigger on that. But they can't fit another goalie, so Vladar is not an enticement in any way.

C Option
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>Depending on how training camp goes with regard to Laine, I could see Roslovic for Gryz working for both sides. The cap hits are nearly identical, Roslovic would get the opportunity to play center which he prefers (which is starting to look unlikely in Columbus with Fantilli on board and if Laine can in fact play center). Jackets need a stable 3LD who can play higher if Werenski gets hurt again who doesn't have term that will block the prospects next season.</div></div>
However, it DOES mean you're either committing to letting Grizz walk in the next offseason (or trading him at the deadline), OR trading Provorov at either of those points. Because at least one of Mateychuk/Svozil will be ready by the start of 2024-25.
