<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>svfsdv</b></div><div>His play in Toronto as a 22-23min a night shut down D man who plays in all situations and against the other teams top players every night.
Think about it like this, if you are McCabe, how do you feel making under 4m while Rielly is making 7.5. You are doing all the PK work. You are playing against the other teams top line. He is being sheltered and and getting the PP time.....
I would McCabe and Pesce on about the same level.
Roy - 81 games 5G 20A +21 TOI 20:53 Age 29 152Hits
McCabe - 73GP 8G 20A +20 TOI 20:39 Age 30 219Hits
You gave Roy 6.25 x 5 in the above example....</div></div>

Reasoning behind Roy getting more is because he is the top 4 RHD that the leafs need badly. There is a huge demand of RHD’s this year and in order to attract one of the top ones in the UFA class, you will have to overpay slightly, especially to get them to come to TOR. Do I think he’s worth 6.25x5? No, not necessarily. But I do think that’s what it will take to get him to play for the leafs. It’s also easier to make deals with players who know the coaching staff and management like Mccabe does. Keep in mind to that McCabe isn’t due until next year so he will be 31 at the time of this new contract so it will take him to age 34, like Roy getting 5 years at age 29. This is when they start to fall off (Brodie). Also, can’t really base contracts off of Reillys contract because everyone knows that’s a Dubas overpay. It’s like basing all forward contracts off of a Jack Hughes contract (8M).
