We need to stop with the Ullmark trades Anyways heres an Ullmark trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>That is how acquiring rentals work yeah.</div></div>
Which is why Boston shouldn't be trading Ullmark to acquire a rental.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins40</b></div><div>I mean I’m sure they’d try to resign him if you follow this team you know they rarely don’t extend their deadline acquisitions. Last year they plainly didn’t have the cap space for Bert.</div></div>
Toffoli isn't going to be cheap to re-sign. Over the last 3 seasons among RW's he ranks:
G - 11th
A - 21st
P - 17th
You're likely looking at $6.5 to $7 million to be in the discussion to re-sign Toffoli

Then Toffoli likely walks in the off-season and all Boston has to show for Ullmark is a 2nd + 5th. The 2nd rounder will be lucky to be on an NHL roster by 2028 and the 5th will be lucky to ever play in an NHL game.

Hockey Trade
The Bruins likely struggle to re-sign Toffoli and they let Nosek walk because they wanted to go a different direction. Going into next season the Bruins could have moved Ullmark and all they'll have to show for it is a 3rd round pick and an AHL level goalie. Seems like a pretty bad deal for Boston considering Toffoli and Nosek aren't going to put them over the top.

All out for Swayman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>It’s not just the D, it’s the entire Team in front of them.
More importantly, there’s always an adjustment moving from a position/environment of comfort to something completely new and foreign to you
There’s a reason goalies typically don’t fetch much in a trade</div></div>
The Bruins have given up the 7th most shots in goal. They have the 12th highest xGA but have allowed the 8th fewest goals. They've allowed the 7th most high danger chances, but given up the 7th fewest high danger goals. This isn't the same defensively minded Bruins we've seen for years. This team is 100% being help up by their goaltending.
BTW Swayman carried a garbage Maine program for 3yrs and was a Hobey Baker finalist. All while playing in one of the toughest hockey conferences in college hockey.

Interesting center option

That being said, Barzal isn't being moved, and you can get Brock for less than this. Would love something around Poitras.</div></div>
You don't know Bruins management very well if you think they change their attitude on a player. Poitras is a non-starter unless a young top 6 center is coming the other way

If Bruins management liked Barzal, he would have been drafted by them in 2015.....but he wasn't.

Is Poitras untouchable
Is he untouchable? no, no one is. He's unlikely to be traded though. Boston lacks young centers and Poitras prior to getting shutdown due to injury, was playing at a fringe 40pt pace as a 19yr old rookie.

I don't see a fit for either team to be honest. Zegras doesn't really fit what Boston wants in its centers and what Boston has to offer, Anaheim already has enough of.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>Then why do we take him on?</div></div>
No idea, I didn't propose the offer. The best path would be to flip him to a contender looking to improve their PK. Seeing as SJ has a retention slot, they could retain some for the last few months of the season and improve their return. With no retention I'd think he can get a 4th. If SJ wanted to retain then they could get a 3rd for him.

Swayman

Here's what Swayman said back in August when asked about it:
<em>“Now I’m here today and I am a Boston Bruin — I couldn’t be happier. <strong>There’s no ill will on the process, because I understand that.</strong> I’m not the first player to go through it. I’m not the last. But I definitely don’t wish it upon any of my friends and teammates moving forward and I don’t want to do it ever again as well. So grateful I went through it. Glad I got it done. I’m a Boston Bruin at the end of the day.”</em>
Swayman has gone on repeatedly to say how much he wants to stay with Boston past this season.

Unless they plan to use that spot to be a middle man for a deal, I don't think it being their last slot matter. That retention would only be for the rest of this season and then the spot freed up again for next year.

Hanifin Deal With Secondary Prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Flames1217</b></div><div>Lindholm got traded for a top prospect (recent first), Moore (dump), a first and two seconds.
The equivalent to this deal would be : Lohrei/Lysell + Forgot/Gyrz, 1st + 2 2nds.
Your trade doesn't have that value.</div></div>
Vaak at the time of trade was not as valuable as Lohrei/Lysell. He was 23yr old, has already gotten a significant concussion. He was a pending RFA that was struggling to get time in Boston's line-up and didn't have a future with the team.
