Just for funMcDavid to Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MT_11</b></div><div>Not meaning to be super critical because this is just for fun :)
Edmonton would never trade McDavid because in the end they lose whatever trade he's sent in, regardless of how good the proposed package looks in front of them. Toronto could seriously offer up Matthews, Marner and Nylander straight up, and Chiarelli would be dumb (yes we all know he's not a bright GM by any means) to take it.
*edit* that's in my books at least</div></div>
I agree. You just can't win a trade where you trade the best player in the entire game...
And EDM is the one team that should know this after what happened with Gretzky...

A New King in the Crease
If Quick goes anywhere, it's likely going to be to Seattle in the expansion draft. It's worth keeping him around for that reason alone, since making Quick available would distract them from going after a young forward or defenseman instead.

I’m not too sure exactly, but probably high because he is a 1st round pick in 2017. I think he was the first goalie taken in that draft. But me personally I’d say him and Colton Point have very high values

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MT_11</b></div><div>How many of said 34-35 top flight centermen are even <strong>near</strong> Tavares' 11 million dollar cap hit?</div></div>
I hear you and I don't really like arguing in favour of the Tavares contract because I am not sure I would have done that deal had I been in charge. I think in TO's case it does cause some problems. It means they have to fight young guys to take less than they likely deserve because too much is going to Tavares. That being said, if you are going to overpay someone, a franchise centre isn't the worst way to go. He'll probably be an elite player for 4-5 of the 7 years he's under contract and then be very effective for the rest of the contract. My point is he is 2 years younger than Doughty and that contract is 1 extra year. I would never give term to a guy in his 30's its a death trap. In my opinion, star players should get their big 8 year deal when they come off their ELC's that way you are paying top dollar for a players best years, rather than bridging them and then giving them huge contracts that run into their mid 30's. Just look at Corey Perry, that is what happens when you give big money to guys leaving their prime.

Faulk has a higher average TOI than Pesce and Hamilton. He's also the highest scoring dman on the canes and has the best possession numbers out of the carolina dmen. Not sure how he would drop in value with those numbers.

Amen to that. Which suggests that the third line (assuming Vilardi can't play) is Iafallo-Thompson-Lewis.

Genuinely interested in Leafs fans thoughts on this
I understand this is just to see if leafs fans would prefer Doughty to JT, so there's no point critiquing the trade people. Not a leafs fan. But I think this would be a win for Toronto. Doughty is a Norris winner and is viewed as a top 5 dman in the league. I don't think anyone views Tavares as a top 5 center in the league, many wouldn't even have him in the top 10. And franchise defensemen can usually play at the top of their game longer, so Doughty's less likely to drop off in his older years IMO. Doughty is a proven leader and has tons of playoff experience, not to mention a Norris trophy and 2 Stanley cup rings. And he's also a tad more consistent player than JT, he's one of the best dmen in the league pretty much every year. I think Doughty instead of Tavares makes the leafs a better team for the next 8 years. Just my opinion

Dont forget that even with Carters age, he is still (in my opinion) an elite center when healthy. And put either Domi or Druin on his wing and they have a legit first line.

As a habs fan, I would have love to have Carter, but with all what happemed last year, I think if Patch is traded, ithe return would be mainely picks and prospects. I like the idea but it's a bit late to take a chance with an 33 old center.

I give you a 4 stars for bringning a new unpublished trade with Patche. To make it feasable the Kings has to had up a 1 st round pick. Carter would be helpful to carry a transition at center for Mtl and to remove pressure on the prospects that will come in (Poehling and KOTKANIEMI). And this could help to move Drouin in a more natural spot on the left wing.
It could be a 2nd round and first if Patches sign with LA.

I would make a comment about how bad this is, but everyone beat me to it it seems. Thompson, Thomas, Kyrou and Kostin could very well be STL's top 4 forwards in a few years here. Thompson and Kostin will likely make it full time next season. Every trade here is lopsided in favour of the Habs...</div></div>

Yeah I guess there’s nothing you can do about Fleury and Gauthier. As for Skinner he will be a UFA, and I would figure Faulk is going to be traded before the expansion.
