Total Overhaul
The only incentive ANA has to trade Zegras is if we land yet another at or near NHL ready LHC in the draft (Celebrini or Lindstrom).
It makes absolutely no sense to then flip Zegras for another LHC

That ANA trade is 4 scrubs with no value, negative value Jarry, and a 2nd for Gibson, while ANA retains $10M of his salary. Please tell me you didn’t actually think this was serious 😂

Mark my words, Demelo isn’t going to a bottom feeder like Anaheim.</div></div>
That’s reasonably fair to assume. I don’t think your perspective is outrageous in any way, maybe just the confidence you have behind it without anything concrete from the player.
Look where Gaudreau signed when he had his pick of the litter. There’s more that goes into these decisions than just playing for the best available team 100% of the time. It’s not unreasonable that a 31 year old might be interested in choosing a nice place to live with a warm climate to settle down with his family. Especially somewhere with ample cap space to give him a pay day, where he can play the role of a leader for a team expected to be on the rise.
Not saying ANA is happening, or even likely. Just that maybe it’s not as clear cut as you make it out to be 🤷♂️

You could’ve assumed Killorn or Gudas would’ve wanted the same. Pretty hard to say that with any confidence unless the player has said so themselves.
While ANA won’t be contending for playoffs next year, their young talent pool looks pretty promising for the last 3 years the suggested 5 year deal for him here

16 would be an awesome spot to trade up to. Feels like someone solid should fall there. 12 spots are very likely gone (in no particular order), including:
Celebrini
Lev
Lind
Parekh
Buim
Demidov
Eiserman
Iginla
Catton
Dickinson
Yakemchuk
Silayev
That still leaves your entire list above plus some other interesting players with only 3 picks before #16OA. Very real chance there’s a Helenius or Brandsegg-Nygard caliber player available there. Maybe even a Catton if the undersized Caufield effect scares away a few extra teams

I actually got a chuckle out of that Zegras trade. I honestly think I wouldn’t trade a 3rd for those two players right now. No room in the top 9 for Robo at full health, and Lilj is not at all our answer at RD. You guys know that, which is why he’s been offered up in virtually every TOR ACGM

The End of the core 4
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>His cap hit is 2.4 and he's got significantly better defensive analytics than Lundestrom. He's tough to play against as well. There's a reason he got that contract to get a bottom 6 role. Yeah, probably overly rich contract, but not by that much. He's a viable bottom 6 upgrade.</div></div>
That’s well put. I don’t personally think the money should be spent on a 4C with term right now though. We aren’t going to be pushing for the cup to make it worthwhile, so I’d personally rather see the spot be filled either more affordable or more strategically (like giving Gaucher a look). But see your point at least. If it had 1 less year on it that’d be more palatable as well

Zegras has a PPG of 0.73 despite having to include this injury-riddled season in his stats. Whatever are you talking about?</div></div>
To be fair, he’s talking about this past season specifically. We Ducks fans know he was playing injured for all but the last 10 games of it (and was then a point-per-game center) but we probably can’t expect fans of other teams to have been watching the Ducks and know that. It’s hard enough for us to watch our on-ice product let alone someone who isn’t a fan on the East coast who’d be staying up until after midnight to finish a Ducks game 🤮

Can I ask why? He’s 100% not a 3C, and $2.9M over 3 years for a 4C just seems silly. We can afford him, but I don’t think we should. Especially that third and final year hitting when every ELC we have will be on a contract

Fully agree OP. I don’t see WAS and ANA trading because I think Leonard will be a must for ANA to make Z available, and I don’t think WAS will be willing to move Leonard for pretty much anything right now. Both totally understandable, both will need to look elsewhere to fill the holes in their lineups

It’s his only sample size without injury this season, so yeah. And 10% of the season isn’t totally irrelevant. Not enough? Take a look at the last 2 seasons where he put up 60+ points back-to-back. Pretending he’s a 15 point player is the outlier.
You won’t see a single ANA fan posting Zegras trades for a reason, I’m not the one pushing this. I’m just saying what it’d take since one of your hometown boys proposed acquiring him. I very clearly said if he isnt worth Leonard to you that’s alllll good. We’re more than happy with him

Zegras was injured, lol. started the season with the same ailment that kept Couture out all year. When he rested it while recovering from the broken ankle he returned to form as a point per Game Center to end the year. Thank you, we will glaaaadly keep him
