Solid Down the Middle

Created by: K_DaBoss

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 29, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't bother with AHL. Chychrun has fallen out in OTT, 3rd pairing, -30, needs to play w/ EK65 --- Joseph gets to play with his brother; Anderson & Xhekaj in change of scenery deal --- Graves can reclaim his game (I know MTL has LD, but this is how the change of scenery deals goes) and MTL is looking for a cup winning, vet winger in Smith ; NSH saves on McDonagh contract and Pens get a LD for Letang, NSH also provides picks for an elite shutdown d-man in Pettersson (and can re-sign) and a quality winger in RAK who just turned 30 with term; Gibson comes home, but with salary retained --- ANA gets a quality goalie in Jarry, who needs a new scene, a shut down winger and elite PK man in Acciari, a 2nd rounder and various prospects for the right side - still seems like over payment but it's only Armchair GM. Pens can always swap Reinhardt to 2C, if need be.

I can follow the logic, but if he plays like he did in COL and NJ - you'll be thanking PIT. In all likelihood he regains form and plays better next season in whichever uniform.

Ottawa is a no. They will get more. Debrincat wanted out and they still got a 1st at least.

Montreal is not taking cap dumps and giving up anyrhing close to that.

Nashville is not paying to take on Rackell and his contract for several years at 5 mil plus.

Gibson is not great but he with retention will get more.

In general this post is very Pens favored.

Then there's also the Guhle, Matheson, Hutson, Struble and Harris part of the equation so adding Graves for 5 years is a huge problem.

Awful return for Ottawa.

I know OTT grossly overpaid for Chychrun from AZ/UTAH, but there's no way his value his anywhere near what is was. He's a change of scenery candidate as well, doesn't fit in OTT. He may be worth a 2nd and prospect, but that's the limit. I know there is one OTT fan who will have a comment.

You've got NSH giving up the better defenceman, and they're not saving any money if you're dumping Rakell on them.

The Preds decline, even before you start asking for picks too.

When Chychrun is moved, it won't be a huge haul ; MTL is making the change of scenery deal, Smith is more of a player they'd go after and they'd be getting him on the cheap ; NSH is paying for Pettersson and RAK is one year removed from nearly 30 goals, they'll need a Zucker replacement; Gibson deal is favoring ANA

If you're talking about McDonagh from TBL then yes you're correct; They can elect to resign or let Pettersson walk as it's his final year, Rak is easily worth a 2nd.

That ANA trade is 4 scrubs with no value, negative value Jarry, and a 2nd for Gibson, while ANA retains $10M of his salary. Please tell me you didn’t actually think this was serious 😂

McDonagh's been great this season. Not so much last year, but coaching was the biggest issue then. He's still a better player than Pettersson.

Why wouldn't NSH re-sign Zucker, instead of taking on Rakell's contract? They could get him for less money and term than Rakell has, they already know how he fits in with their team, and it wouldn't cost them any assets.

If you think Rakell can fetch positive value from a team hoping he can bounce back, I think you'll be disappointed. He's got too much money and term owing.

I think the only trade here that's good for the Penguins is the Ottawa one, and it sucks for Ottawa.
Stephenson also probably gets more money than that.

Insanely easy pass for Anaheim

1. Not retaining 50% on Gibson
2. Not taking Jarry & his contract because if we do trade Gibby, it is because Dostal is ready to be 1A
3. There is actually nothing of value in that trade we would want

Not saying it’s a good trade, but no way McDonagh is better than pettersson right now. Not only that, but hes 7 years older than pettersson.
