Leedership and Faulking Defense

Created by: RecycleShark
Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 4, 2024
Published: Jun. 4, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade for Lee and Faulk to provide veteran leadership. If they will waive. Lee also provides protection for Celebrini and Smith, and Faulk can qb the powerplay.

Note: Putting Ferraro on the 3rd pair to mentor Emberson, not as a demotion. Trying to pair rookie D men with veterans. Thrun is on P1 to learn from Faulk, even though that's probably a big stretch for Thrun.

Weirdly the Blues have plenty of cap space. They’d probably like to move off one of Krug or Faulk but if they can’t they’ll have plenty of space to run it back. That said this is still not far off from the value on Faulk

Unlikely, but what would a Faulk for Ferraro trade look like? Would imagine Blues add to it

Thanks. I had read that St. Louis had too many high priced D men and misinterpreted that as a cap crunch. Good to know that a 2nd for Faulk is about right.

Ferraro is a leader on the Sharks and they probably wouldn't trade him for less than a 1st. If Faulk is worth a 2nd then perhaps the trade would be Faulk and a 1st for Ferraro and a 2nd? Or average out the picks.

Yep I think Faulk is probably the easiest to move for StL as he has value and they can replace him internally. Personally I’d trade Faulk and try like hell to move Krug or buy him out. Then sign or trade for LHD and play Kessel in the second spot on the right.

I think Faulk would waive for a team in the states. The Blues won’t contend (truly contend) for a few more years. So going to SJ wouldn’t change his immediate fate very much

Lee is probably overpaid a bit but he's also the captain, maybe they sell him but give him away with picks and wahlstrom seems a bit much

Isles need to refresh. They are in their best window in years and are somehow still just a bubble team. They should probably give one of their younger guy the reigns and buff out with a UFA. That's going to be hard to do and the price here is probably one of the cheaper options.

I like these moves. Will take some high end negotiating though. Even with Lamorello involved.

Drop Wahlstrom then. How much for Lee? Do you think he has positive value? Or maybe just Future Considerations?

If Lee were to waive I'd do it as an isles fan. Not a ceremonious end to his time as captain but him and his family would be able to live in the Bay Area and he would provide mentorship to a pretty exciting young group of talent. Not sure what Lou would do with that $7 million opened up but I am a fan of this.

The Cali Fin jersey has a record of 1-8-2 which ironically ends up with a 0.182 points percentage. That played a role in us getting Celebrini in the first place (we were 0.303 without that one on, so assuming the jersey was the reason we played worse we'd have gotten about 2.67 extra points over those games. One of those games was at home against Chicago and we lost in OT, so if we'd won it in regulation and gotten another 2 points elsewhere that's a 5 point swing.

    Nice stat work.

I'm gonna buy one of those "lucky" ugly Califin jerseys now!

Still so stoked that we got Celebrini!

Kessel is not 2nd pairing caliber. It baffles me anyone thinks he is.
