Avs are like the Leafs. Full of talent and no show.
Bednar acting like Mike sullivan.

Hire gallant. These trades I did I based of what other teams needs. Trade value might be off somewhat tho.

Landeskog forced unto retirement so he becomes a coach for the avs.

It's between Samsonov and Ned as starter. Unless Annunen steps up and beats them out. These trades let's avs recoup draft capital while being competitive

It’s kind of funny to see all of these teams who get blown out post about how bad their team is and try to completely reconstruct it. By the way the Flyers would not accept that trade. TK is worth more, and right wing is literally the last position we need.

Avs are kind of like the Leafs (at least from a distance; I don’t pretend to know details of Av’s situation). Team - as currently built - was probably not capable of winning cup, but bad luck & injuries have not helped and they’ll (likely) lose close series to a good team. But you have a recent cup (which helps) so no reason to over react

Honestly, the Devils would be committing highway robbery if they got Mikko for this package. Needless to say, the answer is yes.

The avs are getting uno reverse on them lol.

They were dominate I'm jets series and now the whole team has gone ghost. They did this through out the season to.

If RW is your guys need then I was misinformed.

The Avs just won the Cup two years ago....

They just lost their leading goal scorer for the rest of the playoffs.

Their best player is finally getting paid what he's worth, limiting the amount of help they can bring in to supplement him.

The coach isn't the problem here.

I can't understate how brutal of a take this entire post is.

Let's start with the most wild. Trading Rantanen for a bunch of okay. Rantanen is coming off back to back 100 point seasons, a perennial 40-50 goal, and player, and he's got 12 points in 9 games these playoffs. Even against Dallas, who is difficult to score on at their worst, he has 3 points in 4 games. That is fine. His defensive lapses can be outweighed by the offense. Marino and Mercer are fine, but no where close to Rantanen's value in a trade. You're looking at Eichel territory (a 1st, quality roster player, high end prospect, plus a pick), if not a bit more. Let's also just ignore that Marino is unnecessary in this trade if the Avs just hold onto Girard.

Next up, the Merzlikins trade and buyout. Just, why? Nichuskinen will either have his contract terminated, or a team will be willing to take a chance on him while giving up nothing in return. And if neither happens, he will still be a quality player for the Avs. There is no point in trading him for a couple picks and buying out a goalie that will cost the team millions over their entire window. The Avs will most likely not have to pay anything to move Val, definitely not that much.

Signing Samsonov and Ned, two of the most inconsistent goalies, to fix the inconsistent goalie problem is strange.

Finally, Landeskog is skating. He might even return during these playoffs. I don't see why he would be forced into retirement. Anything can happen of course, but it seems unlikely at this point.

The team coming out deflated was entirely predictable. Losing Nuke and not having Landeskog are blows they simply can't sustain. Losing Toews on top of it and finding out about Nichushkin a couple hours before the biggest game of the year is almost unfair and is certainly too much.

Bad luck has cursed the team since the Cup win. Between Landeskog's setbacks and Nukes antics, there is no way I'd say they've come up short. You can only win so many hands when your delt 7/2 off suit.

kinda wild seeing your own fanbase out-leaf the leafs but here we are lol

It'll settle down eventually but it's pretty funny that the solution to what this season was, whether they lose tomorrow or not, is to blow it up and fire the coach lol

You realize his contract is expiring after a year and we likely couldn't resign him right? I know we could flip his rights, but for pennies on the dollar.

Value is good, but does a young team give up 5-8 years of Mercer, 3 years of Marino for 1-year of Rantanen? Its not that easy of a call considering we are building for a long window.

(and this offer likely gets blown out of water anyways)

Avs fans summoning their inner-leaf and trading away one of their key players bc he only has...a PPG pace in the playoffs.

Idk, it's insane and it'll settle down in about a month when the avs extend him.

Who cares, we can cross that bridge when we get to it, Vegas and Tampa continue to prove that you can find ways around the cap. At worst, 1yr of 50goals and 100pts from Rantanen is better than anything Marino and Mercer can provide.

I know MR is great, but I think this is truly too short term thinking and is all about making up for one bad year. Not thinking long term on what Mercer can mean to us in the middle six for long term. Also how spending on another winger while weakening our D and having less to spend on a goalie is not smart in my view.
