Okay, if not Buffalo it'll be someone else. It's funny how every year fans say nope not helping Tampa with their supposed cap issues, and yet said players are nearly always moved if needed.

Yeah, on second thought, I wouldn't want to.do Tampa's players dirty by sending them to Buffalo anyway.

If Mateychuk really impresses and they get someone like Brenden Dillon in the off-season, I can see CBJ trading Provorov with 50 % retention to TBL for at least a 1st before the start of the season. I see the proposed trade as something for the TDL, since I'd imagine that they'd want to keep Danforth at least until the TDL, unless they think that he can be replaced by Brindley. My guess would be that they would like to keep Danforth and have Brindley in the AHL to start with.

All in all, I think it's a good trade for Columbus and Tampa Bay, though I imagine that this particular suggestion is more likely to take place at the TDL. But you never know.

I would take that right now honestly. Mateychuk could be an option this year but likely starts the season in Cleveland. The Jackets also have Svozil who very well makes the Jackets out of camp. The Jackets also still have one year left of Bean and Christiansen. But Tampa won’t do it. Tampa has to know they may not even make the playoffs next season. They are in decline and should not be trading their picks away.

It's a move that makes sense for both sides at the TDL. I don't think Columbus will re-sign Bean. Svozil and Christiansen I don't think will make the team next year.

I have to disagree on Svozil. Guy looked good in his call up in 2023 and is a key member of the monsters right now as they chase the Calder Cup. I expect him to make the team.

I have to agree with @CertifiedAverage, this feels like a TDL move for both Columbus and Tampa, but I do like it for both teams.

Yeah, I'm sure Tampa would try to make it work this summer, but if they couldn't and both teams were still interested at the tdl, maybe it could happen then. The only reason that I wouldn't see it working from Tampa's.side at that point would be because they spent assets/cap space to improve the blue line/F depth over the summer, and now they wouldn't have the room to make it work cap wise.

Tampa still has one of the best cores in the league that still averages under 30 years old. They missed a top goaltender for nearly a third of the season and still had 98 points. Yeah, they ran into a bad matvhup and possibly the best team in the league in rd 1, but they aren't done competing if they make the right moves to address better depth and defense. Vasy being healthy, and hopefully having a better defensive structure, will also help.

You just decided to post a worthless comment acting as though you speak for the Sabres. You added nothing at all to the discussion. Maybe next time, add something worth discussing and you won't get similar results. The Sabres aren't good, so yes, as a player I wouldn't probably want to go there and likely wouldn't be thrilled if I was traded there is what I should have said and meant. The city of Buffalo I have no issue with.

Keep your Cap dumps, we aren’t interested no matter how many insults u hurl

You aren't interested. Unless you're the Buffalo GM, last I checked your opinion means nothing, like everyone else's on here. I've seen plenty of trades with Jeannot to Buffalo and had actula decent discussions with reasovale Buffalon fans, so yeah, again, you aren't interested.

It is going to be difficult. Detroit is getting better, Buffalo is going to breakthrough, Montreal is getting close and Ottawa is no to far off. That division is highly competitive. And Tampa is the second oldest team in that division behind Boston. Not impossible but very difficult.

Detroit maybe, the rest are not as worrisome. Tampa was an easy 110 point team this year with a healthy Vasy imo. They are still very much a playoff team and with the right adds, a team that can compete. I have a feeling they won't end up making the trade with the Jackets in this example, but it does address two of the team's bigger needs, a top 4 dman and some bottom 6 depth. Since they need the RD more, ultimately they'll likely address it via ufa, but I saw this trade and thought it was interesting at least.
