MTL management wouldn't be interesting in Kaliyev at all

We'll see how the rest of the playoffs play out but Kuznetsov could probably be had for free in the summer.

IDK he's got size, upside and the price wouldn't be too prohibitive. It's not like there are too many forwards pushing for the NHL either. I like it.

For Saros? Well, if Byfield isn't an option, it'd have to be someone reasonably similar. Y'all kind of traded away the best candidate asset already to bring in PLD.

Kaliyev is one dimensional and lazy. Hard pass

Cirelli isn't unmovable. But the cost to get him won't be cheap. At least a top 6 forward and a top 4 RD w/ multiple years of team control.

MTL management wouldn't be interesting in Kaliyev at all

Based on What Factual Statement or Logic?
Kaliyev and Savard share Agents and Kent has dealt with him on Ylonen and Stephens deals.
He fits and is from that 2019 Draft Hughes has targeted since arriving

Personally i like Kaliyev and what he brings.
I mean its easy to write him off but lets remember Racist Coach Claude Julien inherited a team with 9 Russian and in 16 months had 0
He took Radulov off the top line putting Gallagher up top and demoted Chucky to 3rd line LW right out the gate replacing them with Canadians
Its not unheard of and if you look at LAK Roster since Jim Hiller was promoted from Assistant to a Coach the LAK leaned harder into North American Players Big Time

Kaliyev isnt some crap player no one likes
He's a 22 year old 4th year Pro who put up 14-15 goals a year before Hiller
Clearly Hiller for him is the issue here even though Hiller brings out the best in others he screws Kaliyev
Easy solution? Trade LAK a North American Player like Harris or someone else in a trade deal either 1 for 1 or in a bundle.

I don’t think it would take Moore to get Chychrun tbh. I imagine the price will be in the mid 1st + a young player range. if LA is willing to give up their 1st and a guy under 23 or so who could slot into a roster, that’d probably do the trick

I get what you're saying but that deal reminds me of a sort of Burakovshy, Nichushkin or Tolvanen like bet. Sometimes you get a Gurianov and others you get a Burakovsky. When the opportunity arises it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. Worst case he gets buried in the AHL so downside is minimal.

Change the top6 forward for a young center with high upside and add a depth socrer like maybe Kaliyev or somethingé

Roy sign and trade (gonna be $5.5-6.5M for 5-6 years) + Moore + Kaliyev?

FWIW, Kaliyev is American in all but birth. Born in Uzbekistan but moved to Long Island when he was a toddler and grew up in NY.

Easy solution? Trade LAK a North American Player like Harris or someone else in a trade deal either 1 for 1 or in a bundle.

Roy sign and trade (gonna be $5.5-6.5M for 5-6 years) + Moore + Kaliyev?

Right idea, but Tampa's not going to be able to absorb that much extra cap next season. Also can't see Tampa trading their 2C for a winger.

It works for Tampa, as long as the Roy extension came in at the right price. Roy is the top 4 RD they very much need to add, Moore is comparable tinwhat they'll have tompay Duclaor ormanother ufa F of the same quality, and Kaliyev should be a relatively cheap add tonghe.bottom 6. It's actually a pretty good deal for Tampa. They can still run Point-Stamkos-Paul down the middle in this case as well.

I honestly think a Kaliyev/Wahlstrom deal is a great idea for both sides. Both players have untapped potential but aren't going to get it where they are now; I think it's worth it for the Kings & Isles to take a swing at seeing if those guys can turn it around in a new place.

Also I didn't know that Kaliyev grew up in NY - would love to bring a local(ish) boy back home!

Stammer at C full time? Not sure how that's going to work out. Maybe slide Paul up to 2C and give one of the Ceunch centers a shot at 3C? Good call on the Moore for Duclair switch. Hadn't thought about that.

Yeah, if Stamkos at 2C isn't what they want, then sure moove Paul to 2C and try Finley out at 3C, or depending on other contract values, they could sign/trade for a cheaper one(maybe someone like Dowd).

6'2 and 209lbs thats not his game
Not saying it cant be added as Suzuki was Slow as Molasses when we got him
He trained 2 summers with London Knights with a Speed Skating Coach the Hunters employ for their Junior players in the summer.
Marner and Suzuki were there the summer before he joined MTL full time

Its not impossible to add that to Kaliyev's game as his Speed isnt bad he just takes time to build up momentum
I'd be far more interested in having him play that Physical game he avoids right now.
If we did bring him in i'd tell him up front whether or not he's extended depends on whether or not he's improved significantly in his skating or his Physical game.
TBH at his size and given our need i'd much rather a Physical Goal Scorer then a Speedy Goal Scorer.

Plus his advanced Stats are ahead of basically everyone but Suzuki in MTL right now.
His Defensive Play is vastly underrated and on par with the stats Danault holds

I dunno this is buy low on the 1st pick in the 2nd round of the 2019 Draft Hughes loves plucking talent from.
If he was 190lbs or something like that i would have no interest but at 209lbs he's got muscled packed on and a good solid foundation to build on
He has 2 glaring weaknesses we could address. I mean if MSL can make Slaf a 20 goal and 50 point scorer after the start he had to his sophomore season
Then working with Kaliyev shouldnt be that big of an issue.

If it works out imagine where we'll be ?
If it doesnt we just dont re-sign him
Either way what we're giving up is gonna be lost anyways
LAK lost a few players they liked for nothing in Anderson-Dolan and Bjornfot former 1st and 2nd round picks
Thats after having to sell low on Grans and Durzi because their log jam got too out of control

Same will be said of Harris and Struble as better players enter our crowded Dcore in NHL and AHL levels
Even if Kaliyev gamble fails we have a great chance of him succeeding then any 3rd round pick and a B Prospect that Harris will command today as is.

FWIW, Kaliyev is American in all but birth. Born in Uzbekistan but moved to Long Island when he was a toddler and grew up in NY.

                Same with Galchenyuk
Did mean Claude Julien treated him differently then Markov, Radulov, Nesterov , Emelin, Scherbak, hell even Sergachev got traded about 3 months after Claude was hired.
IF a Coach feels Canadians and Americans are the way to go they'll focus largely on those guys filling 70-80% of the roster.

With LAK they seem to be leaning heavily into Canadian and American born players
Doesnt mean he's Anti Russia like Claude but it does mean he has his preference which might like Kaliyev on the outside looking in
Kaliyev's got 11-12 mins and scored 34 goals over 3 seasons with a Defensive Metrics similar to Danaults right now in LAK
Maybe its just the case of misuse like Claude and Ducharme did with Lehkonen but when Lehky hit COL he took off as a 200ft player in his own right.

Regardless at the cost of Harris the Return is worth the cost and the Gamble for both sides IMO

Dont just reply with a lie that you refuse to back up that Contradicts Managements Direction since Marc Bergavin was Fired.
If you are Unable to hold up your side of the Democratic Debate then say so, dont just lie based on nothing .
Anyone who listened to Hughes Speak ever knows what you're saying isnt true.
He's highlighted 2 straight drafts by trading for players like this on the cheap and has said he'll continue to make moves like that.

I get it , you loved Marc Bergavin but he's in LAK now
Hughes has been the complete opposite with a buy low , sell high Mantra.

Plus he deals with Kaliyevs Agent for multiple Habs

Fiala + 2nd for Ullmark + Debrusk (or another middle 6 winger) would work for the Kings IMO. Fiala is cost controlled so he has significantly higher value than UFA Ullmark. Swayman would be closer to a 1-for-1 since he's younger
