I have an irrational hatred for CBJ. So, I love seeing them do bad, and I'm sorry that I have found pleasure in your pain, but it's just the way it is. Jarmo Kekalainen knows how to identify talent, but he doesn't know how to build a team, and there is a difference. There are plenty of interesting options for head coach right now, though. Maybe CBJ should consider a coaching change... again. Does Vincent have an interim tag or was he supposed to be the full time head coach?

lol. It's a long running hatred that was exacerbated by Jarmo fleecing Bowman in the Jones trade. But also the fact that he fleeced us and then turned around and squandered ALL of the assets we sent to him. CBJ should be way better than they are right now.

Should they be? The majority of their good prospects are still 21 and younger. The Russian kids are in the 22-23 range and starting to look like very very good players. Give it a few years and that's probably the window when the team should start to have real expectations.

Agreed, Jiricek was definitely a wasted pick that was squandered. Should've picked Korchinski. But Boqvist, who can't stay healthy or actually defend? Sillinger, who is the engine that drives Columbus's PK, which is seventh in the league despite the team being a tirefire?

Sure... Yeah, their young players are still, well... young. But they also signed Gaudreau, Laine, Severson, etc., in recent years. They are currently structured as if to be a competitive team with "depth" and a great prospect pool, but they are the complete opposite. So, yeah, considering the time and investment they have put into the Blue Jackets, they should be a lot better.

It's not necessarily the pieces that he squandered. I still like Jiricek and Sillinger. But, he squandered the whole big picture and timeline, CBJ is a mess of bloated contracts and young players who aren't quite ready. And it is going to become difficult to keep guys around when they pop off, are due new contracts, and they have all those bloated contracts getting in the way. Just seems like a very sloppy scatterbrained execution of a rebuild that had a lot of promise.
