Reichel Contract
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>I mean he definitely hasn't earned the 2.1M that you have here. We have all the cap space so it doesn't really matter, but just going based on what he's proven to be worth i'd say 1 year 950k. Gives him the chance to proves he's a full time contributing NHL'er.</div></div>
If he were arbitration eligible, he would most likely command around $1.5-2M, given his total production over the last few years. His struggles in the first 3/4's of the year weren't entirely his fault, either. They asked him to bulk up a substantial amount over the summer, which he did, and then they asked him to jump straight into a full time role in the NHL as a top 6 center, which he doesn't have a ton of experience playing.
He was drafted as a "center" and has certainly tried to play center and been put there a few times, and I kept hearing the rhetoric the last few seasons that he would or did play center for Rockford, but I watched a lot of their games the last few years and he almost never did. I don't know where the disconnect is, if it's CHI beat writers, and/or internal communication shortcomings, but anyone who says different is just wrong because I know what I saw and it was never a center. Even in most of the games where they had him listed as a center on the line combinations, they would quickly move him back to the wing.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Alex Vlasic (6 Years / $4,600,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CSStrowbridge</b></div><div>He's good defensively, but I think a LOT of people are overvaluing his his defensive abilities. That said, I think 3rd pair is too low.</div></div>
Both analytically and by the eye test, Vlasic was a top 5 defensive dman in the league through the regular season, on one of the worst teams in the league with an absolutely brutal goal differential. If he can add more offense, which should be relatively easy as the team gets better as a whole, he will be the next Slavin/Toews/Lindgren type of LD, maybe even better and more valuable than them, especially at that cap hit for the next 6 years.
That said, yeah, there are a lot of people who overvalued his abilities and were making predictions in the $6-8M aav range. Which was absolutely ridiculous, imo. You don't give that kind of money out on such a small sample size. But this contract has a good chance to be looked at as one of the best bargains in the league within a couple years.

Utah Yetis Goin to the playoffs
I doubt CHI would be interested in Soderstrom or Vejmelka. Even if there is a chance that Soder develops more, into the RD he was drafted to be, he simply just doesn't fit the mold of what CHI is trying to build on the back end. But he can't even defend properly at the AHL level. Even if CHI were interested I don't think they would even consider paying a 2nd round pick for those two.

I doubt CHI would be interested in that. They would want more. Contrary to popular rhetoric, Jones has actually been very good for most of his career. Any problems I have with him are attributed to the timing of when CHI traded for him, the amount they gave up for him, and the contract they gave him. Outside of those things he has been fantastic for us. Not to mention he has a full NMC. So, it would take a lot of things lining up perfectly just to get a trade proposal on the table, and even then I doubt CHI would have any interest in selling this low on him.

isles big offseason
The Isles wouldn't have committed to Engvall with so much term if they didn't want him around for the long haul, and at $3M you can't beat a player like him. There is no reason for them to move him. Especially not if they have to pay to move him. His contract will only look better as the cap goes up. I doubt CHI would be interested in taking on a contract like Engvall's at this point in their rebuild, anyway.

More ideas for a Kane contract
If CHI has an established core and leadership group at that point, are ready to contend, and Kane is still playing well enough, sure, I don't see why they don't bring him back with retention to help the team and let a CHI legend finish his career with CHI. But that is a lot of "IF's".

Foligno Dickinson and Mrazek are fantastic contracts, they fluff CHI's cap structure to help get them to the floor for the next couple of years without overcommitting on too many large contracts. Plus, all three bring experience, leadership, and a stabilizing presence.
Vlasic is already a top 5 defensive dman in the NHL, and his offense showed drastic improvement and his counting stats will likely only get better as the team gets better. If you think that is a bad contract, you have no clue what you are talking about.

100% agree with you on this. What does this really do for the Hawks long term? Furthermore, overpaying for a stop gap plug makes sense, IF there is value to that player at the TDL in year 2 of the contract. I don't see how a playoff team in 25/26, is going to be able to afford Stamkos at this rate even at 50% retained and at the age of 36 years old.</div></div>
For sure. When I say "like this" I mainly just mean an overpay. Although, it might take something in and around the $10M range to get a guy like Stammer, among others, to come to CHI at this point in time.

Bridge Raymond Push for Win Now Mode
A 3rd might be enough value to dump Fabbri's contract, but I doubt he is the kind of addition CHI wants to make. He does not "boost CHI's ability to score", he is injured way too often, and he is very unlikely to see much time on a line with Bedard, outside of a trial run and the occasional re-tread line pairings. We have already had Maata in CHI, he isn't good. CHI drafted Holl. If you want CHI to take all of those contracts like your description seems to insinuate, even though you have them all going to different teams, it is going to cost WAY more. But CHI just isn't filling their roster with cap dumps. They want to improve, not just add bodies and draft capital.

Vlasic Jones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RecycleShark</b></div><div>I understand that Jones is much better than Vlasic (the older cousin.) I figured the value to Chicago was saving $9.5M per year for the 4 years after Vlasics's contract expires. So they can afford to pay Bedard and other young players. This is a way for Chicago to get out of Jones' contract without retaining $2M+ for six years.</div></div>
CHI is not trying to get out of Jones contract. The only way they would consider moving him, is if he asks for a trade (because he has a full NMC), and if they are receiving positive value. There is zero value in this trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>I guess the real question is, will they be competing while he's still on this contract? They kind of reset the rebuild counter to zero for Bedard by selling anything young that wasn't bolted down in DeBrincat and Dach. There's a couple pieces taken after the first round since then that are working out (case in point this contract) but there's a serious lack of depth in the pipeline in Chicago. It's going to be years before they're knocking on the door of the playoffs, even with Bedard.</div></div>
Vlasic was drafted before Kyle Davidson took over.

I honestly never thought his AAV would go over $5.75M. But all the chatter was getting me worried that CHI would make too large of a bet and possibly make Vlasic an "unwanted contract" down the road. I think that, at this AAV, CHI fans shouldn't have anything to complain about over the next 6 seasons, when it comes to Vlasic.
