How many Russians Julien had over his years in Boston? 3? 4? No chance they trade Byron for Slepyshev. Personally I would keep him exept if I can get a high 2nd RP.

Pacioretty's actual value to the Blues
Since 2012 -13
Steen, Sobotka, Fabbri, Sanford and Schwartz = 263 goals in 991 games
Pacioretty = 171 goals in 407 games = 0,42g/gp.... 0,42goals x 991 games = 416 goals
Not one guy you named is near Pacioretty's production. 1 1/2 season for a Elite goal scoring machine will cost a lot and if STL want to finally succed in playoff they need more then the players you named

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habs4ever</b></div><div>Froese is not too bad as the 4th line C. He hits, is responsible, easy to coach a team guy and he has a favorable contract. So far my only knock on him, is his face off percentage. It is too low. That is why I would target jay Beagle of the Capitals. He is 4th in the league in face off`s and plays 4th line minutes, kills penalties and take important face off`s. But I do like Froese and would really like him, if he brought up his face off percentage.</div></div>
Beagle would be perfect.

You have made some serious upgrades at C. Your top three C`s are awesome. Not sure Plecky comes back to play on 4th line and for only $2M. His salary will go down but not that low. Alzner has the contract of a top four but plays like a 5. Lernout is definately not a top four D. I like that you moved Shaw and kept Patch.</div></div>
I like what B. Froese bring we could try him 4th line.. You are right about Pleky I just dont see the habs without him.. Or maybe if A. Vermette is a free agent it would be cheaper and would fit better on a 4th line?

Taking on talent/selling cap relief.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I can't truly know what they were thinking, but when the organization's brass sat down and decided to trade a recent Norris trophy winner signed until his mid thirties for a less-recent Norris trophy runner-up, signed through his early forties... they were gambling on immediate success that hasn't materialized. I might be wrong in suggesting it's worth a lottery pick for them to dump his contract. He's still a very marketable name, and maybe someone will take him on at half salary to sell tickets through a rebuild, or they could always give him a raise to retire and join their coaching staff (taking himself off their salary cap numbers)?
Sometimes people have bad years and come back. Sometimes people have bad years and then have worse years. I don't personally know Shea Weber. He is still top ten in ice time. But he's got the fewest points of anyone in the top twenty: <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/stats?category=ICE+TIME&group=1&time=0" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/stats?category=ICE+TIME&group=1&time=0</a>
Weber used to play the most minutes in the league, start 60% of his shifts in his defensive zone, and pace his team in points, assists, hits, and who knows what else. This year is not exactly unfolding that way.
There could well be team problems in Montreal that are impacting most of their players' performance. But when you trade your Norris Trophy winner for a guy who's won multiple gold medals, you kind of expect him to lead the team through whatever comes their way. That doesn't seem to be happening.</div></div>
Weber played with Mete, Schlemko and Benn in a team that score 2.25 goals per game.. Weber is a great D if paired with minimum a top 4 not depth players like DS or Benn.. Mete is not a nhl caliber guy yet so Weber's bad start this season is on Bergefail and no one else. Rather have Weber in the stand than Garrisson on the ice, we already have 5 guys like him.

Maybe he's injured? Maybe he's depressed. I hope he gets better, but I'm keeping it real. Paying another sixty million dollars to someone with one more point than Deryk Engelland, but fewer hits, in more minutes.... that's not something Vegas is going to just volunteer for.</div></div>

As a habs fan I think this is a bad trade for NYI. Fucale hasn't been good enough to start in the AHL (he's in the ECHL) and Shaw carries a long term deal @ 3.9M/year and by having Clutterbuck they already pay to much for too long for a 4th line caliber player. I don't know alot about Wotherspoon but Dal Colle is a high drafted 21 year old prospect and Nelson would be MTL 1st line center.
