Complete fail
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Babcock has enough class, to praise a player in public. But what does his comment have anything to do with a NHL trade? Absolutely nothing. And please, a few corrections. The Leafs don't have a lot prospects, most of them these prospects on the NHL team. Leafs really only have two prospects on the Marlies. Liljgren and Bracco, the rest...aren't real prospects. The Leafs are few years for contending, they just aren't that "contending good" yet. And most sorry to inform you, salary cap is important in making all trades. This nonsense about Nashville and the cap recapture. Might be important if Weber retires, but no team is going to trade for such a cap hit hoping he retires. Sure the cap is going up, but the Leafs have lots of young players that are going to get raises base on the new cap.
Seems like 95% of expensive Dmen trades go to the Leafs. Certainly not absolutely necessary for the Leafs. No the Leafs can't be a dumping ground for contracts because some teams just to want to get rid of them, and Webers is one. And as I wrote, try putting Weber in the Leafs lineup, with considering the Leafs performance bonuses. It just doesn't work. But again it too much work for almost every Montreal fan who makes the deal. We only see the Habs roster....kinda meaningless in the Leafs cap world.</div></div>
OR, Babcock likes him.... Crazy idea. Weber is one of the best shutdown defenseman and Babcock's team can't defend. Seems like that's exactly the type of defenseman he would want. Whether Lou/Shanny provide him with that is debatable.
Leafs Prospects: Liljegren, Bracco, Johnsson, Pickard, Kapanen, Leivo and Sosh. As much pine as Leivo rides, he is still a decent prospect with NHL upside. Sosh is injured and Kapanen is called up for now, both still prospects with NHL upside... Not to mention, all the pieces that just "graduated" over the last season and a half, the team is very young and could trade away young/prospect players.
Salary Cap is absolutely important. 10% of your contract for one of the best shutdown defensemen in the game is something Leafs could afford if they decide to. Habs fans aren't "dumping cap" on your team, we are trying to sell/rebuild our team. Weber to Toronto appears to be a fit, whether you agree or not.
We don't make "from the other teams prospective" deal for every fake trade we purpose, so why would we care to go through the work to show how Toronto could be happy with it.
Subban for Weber was a terrible trade for many reasons. But this bullshit opinion that 32 year old Weber is suddenly garbage or not worth his contract is laughable. We rebuilding, not throwing away bad deals.

Pacioretty's actual value to the Blues
Fine then don't trade for him then! That isn't going to stop people from making AGM's the way they want......This is a fantasy site at the end of the day. People who are not qualified to make these real decisions IRL are being given a chance to do what they think is right. What'd you expect?
People need to start looking at these AGM's as trade <strong>offers </strong>, not done deals. Nothing more. Its an offer, you can choose to accept, decline or continue negotiating to something you like better.
If you think GM's in the NHL start off by making an offer that is really close to full value off the bat, you are wrong. Negotiating 101: Aim high and negotiate down from there.
The whole process of negotiating is completely lost on this site so people go straight for the full value with an extra cherry on top.

Wishful thinking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lucasg</b></div><div>I like what B. Froese bring we could try him 4th line.. You are right about Pleky I just dont see the habs without him.. Or maybe if A. Vermette is a free agent it would be cheaper and would fit better on a 4th line?</div></div>
Froese is not too bad as the 4th line C. He hits, is responsible, easy to coach a team guy and he has a favorable contract. So far my only knock on him, is his face off percentage. It is too low. That is why I would target jay Beagle of the Capitals. He is 4th in the league in face off`s and plays 4th line minutes, kills penalties and take important face off`s. But I do like Froese and would really like him, if he brought up his face off percentage.

MTL is not getting tavares that would be awesome. However, in the argument that you did get this roster. You have made some serious upgrades at C. Your top three C`s are awesome. Not sure Plecky comes back to play on 4th line and for only $2M. His salary will go down but not that low. Alzner has the contract of a top four but plays like a 5. Lernout is definately not a top four D. I like that you moved Shaw and kept Patch.

Taking on talent/selling cap relief.
This doesn't make a lot of sense at all. Maybe the NYR deal could be seen as plausible, but the rest are way in the deep end of the pool far away from reality and fairness.

Honestly, not a bad trade at all. Could probably get more for Pac, like a RNH out of EDM, but this is not bad either.
