This might be one of the worst AGM’s we’ve seen in some time
JT is a cap dump, Dubois is a cap dump, Mason McTavish has more value than Mitch Marner and Knies for Kerfoot is just HUH
This whole thing is wild all over the board

Why not trade the 1st OA and future for an aging overpaid player! How do you rebuild a team?

Run it back for disappointment again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kohnsharkosz</b></div><div>Exactly, I mentioned this previously when this type of deal came up. He's 23 and could absolutely still pop. Then you look like a genius only paying $4.8m. If not, his buyout, while long, maxes at $835k. I think for two second rounders you take a run at this.
Besides, the Sharks org seems to be committed to trying to get every 2018 first rounder at least a year in SJ.</div></div>
As a note, his buyout stays cheap (increases a bit to 850k) as long as he's bought out before July 6, 2026, so we could even give him a shot for two seasons and, barring another weird covid-like season pushing things back significantly, he'd maintain that 1/3 price. Doing that would also make it end after the 2033-34 season instead of 2035-36.

Sharks are building a young core right now and adding a player who is already in trouble with the NHL for what I can only assume is multiple failed drug tests is not the character type of guy sharks would want to take a risk on. Even with a sweetener.

It definitely costs a lot more than a 5th to take on Lee's contract at 7Mx2. You're suggesting buying it out which would cost 2.875M in year 1, 4.225M in year 2, and 1.725M in years 3 and 4. Teams generally get around a 4th round pick for retaining 50% at the TDL when that 50% is usually a prorated portion of 1-2 M.
When the Leafs wanted Marleau's contract off the books it cost a 1st they expected to be late (ended up as Seth Jarvis at 14th) to get his 1x6.25M (regardless of buyout) off the books. If we just look at year 2 here that's about 2/3 of the price of Marleau's deal (admittedly the cap was 81.5M that year and in year 2 of this buyout I'll estimate 92M for the cap, so let's call it around 60%.

It will return, you all are the true fans who stuck through rebuild years, one day one of our guys will play the puck from our bench so you can see why we hated Ryan Clowe so much. The worst years are over, it's already started for the Ducks, just hope we can stay competitive when you both are back.

The one thing I admire about Kunin is that he is a professional athlete despite having type 1 diabetes. He does a lot of volunteer and fund raising work to help other people with diabetes. I have people close to me with T1D and they are big Kunin fans. I've seen his signed gear at fundraisers for kids with T1D.
Kunin's wife plays professional women's hockey in Minnesota. Maybe we should trade him to the Wild.
Mike Brown? There's a flashback.

Based on articles, sounds like Grier and Sharks management love Kunin and want to bring him back on a multi-year contract despite his $3M QO. I don't get it. I'm not a big Kunin fan.

lol. Whats wrong with TOR? The fans can be overbearing, they need a better coach, and the team is built wrong, but I wouldn't call them "rotten". haha. They have a lot of great players, and they have never struck me as a dirty or corrupt club.

It actually happened
Congratulations on winning the lottery. I think it’s safe to say that every NHL fan outside of CHI was rooting for SJS.
I highly doubt Tanev or Duchene sign there though. They’re looking to win a cup at this point in their careers. The same likely goes for OEL. Your only chance of getting those guys right now would likely be paying them wildly above market value. Being that they’ve made quite a bit of money already and are all ringless, even overpayment may not be enough to get them to SJS.
