Both players on expiring contracts, both good players that need a change. Carolina moves up a few spots and gets a good prospect. I think it definitely works.

The leafs aren’t trading liljegren, minten and a first for an American that doesn’t want to play in Canada. Marner isn’t going to waive to go to the islanders.

A lot of you people on here like to undervalue players. Less than 25 percent of players drafted in the 2nd round play in the nhl. How do you know if that second round pick will even amount to anything?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>How so? Detroit had Zadina which didn’t amount to anything, and now they have Berggren who is essentially Robertson with better playmaking but a worse shot.
The fit is also not there, as Detroit has several undersized forwards, and is in need for guys that bring a different element.
It’s not delusional to believe that a 5’9 one trick pony who has no sustained track record isn’t worth a 2nd</div></div>
That’s obviously was Steve Y likes. There’s definitely a fit. You’re losing Kane and Perron. Having a winger that can put up 20-25 goals a season is huge. Especially if he plays on the 3rd line. You guys really undervalue players a lot on here. There’s a lot of example of players that aren’t tall that are very effective at what they do

Robertson is not a bottom 6 player. He was playing bottom 6 minutes and put up good numbers. He’s about a 20-25 goal guy and a 45-50 point guy. Less than 25 percent of second round picks play in the nhl. Robertson was a previous 2nd round pick.

Keep him if you think he's worth a 2nd or has anymore value they a 7th in 2038. Your take is way way worse thinking you can get a 2nd</div></div>
😂😂 you’re comical kid. He had 27 points in 56 games played on the leafs 3rd line last season. You must be making the red wings lines for them, that’s why they suck so bad😂

You're not getting a second round pick when they don't have a 3rd rounder. Pipe dream.</div></div>
Man you’re lost , kid. You have no idea the true value of a RHD in the NHL. Especially one that’s young, got drafted in the first round and put up decent defensive numbers for cheap. None of those kids you’re talking about will be ready to play. Minnesota is garbage they could use a guy that plays good defence

This is a terrible take. You haven’t followed Robertson enough to speak about him obviously. He has one of the best shots I’ve seen and he’s quick. He’s a goal scorer. You guys are losing quite a few forwards this year. Detroit is not a very good hockey team either, he’d make there team alot better

This is most definitely his trade value and it may even be a little hit less than what Marner is worth. Vegas just signed Hanafin who’s on the 3rd pairing, he is far too good to be playing there. Theodore also only has 1 year left on his contract just like Marner and will want a raise. Whitecloud is a 3rd paring guy who wasn’t even drafted so he’s most definitely replaceable and Roy is a solid 3rd line guy. There was talks that it was going to be Theodore and Karlson and a pick just for Marner alone. You people really undervalue 100 point players.

Minny has a lot of LHD but not many RHD. Liljegren is a solid d man for a 3rd pairing who is probably only going to make 2 million. Go look at his J fresh. Minnesota needs players that are ready to play for them now. They may have some prospects but they won’t be ready for another 2 years. This trade makes total sense and you’re getting back a 4th as well. A lot of people don’t understand the value of players now a days

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PaulKorea</b></div><div>All this coming from the guy trying to tell Hawks' fans what their team needs/wants.
Since you don't seem to understand it, even though Timmins is signed next year, he can be put on waivers. If your GM is competent at all, he'll bring in an upgrade and put Timmins on waivers and send him to the AHL.
To answer your question though, it'll likely be Crevier and before you ask, yes I'd rather have him over Timmins any day of the week.</div></div>
It seems like you’re a fan of Timmins. You sure know a lot about a guy that’s “garbage”. I made a team that’s all I did. I made fair trades. Chicago needs a 3rd pairing guy that can still play. Nobody knows Timmins potential because he’s been injury prone. He was also drafted 32nd overall which means that he has potential to be an average NHL defenceman.

If you use your retention slots only on guys on the last year of their deals, you get to make a new deal every year. I think they would rather make 3 separate trades, and get triple the value from that spot. Than 1 trade and now have it locked up for 3 years.</div></div>
It is a possibility

Hit waivers? Buddy he’s signed next season. Which team do you manage? All you guys commenting like you know anything about what the blackhawks GM wants. Who’s your 3rd D pairing btw?
