Perron would be a nice depth piece. Excellent leadership and can still produce, especially in the playoffs. Re: Monahan, okay pay him less, but its free agency and I think fair value is extremely unlikely.

1 for 1 is extremely risky for Toronto, Jiricek hasn't proven anything yet. CBJ was one of the worst teams last year and Jiricek struggled to crack the lineup lol.

Marner to Seattle
I think something along these lines makes a lot of sense for both teams, but I think the size and extra year on Oleksiak benefit this team more. Burakovsky with retention gives us more flexibility going forward too, and he's at his lowest possible value due to injury. He's a gamer in the playoffs, and bigger. ID be happy with either forward though tbh.

A Marner deal to Seattle makes too much sense. I dont't know if we should touch Saros though, Woll and Hildeby show serious promise.

Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AEcho</b></div><div>If SEA was really going to go after Marner it wouldn't be in a package like that. It would be just Marner and no other pieces would be involved from TOR's end. It would look something like
To TOR: Oleksiak, Burakowsky, Nyman, and either NYR's 2024 2nd or SEA's 2024 3rd
To SEA: Marner, who agrees to sign in SEA long term (e.g. 8x11-11.5)'
Team looks like:
McCann - Berniers - Marner
Schwartz - Wright - Eberle
Tolvanen - Gourde - Bjorkstrand
Kartye - FA signing - Tanev
I don't think TOR agrees to that, and I don't think the teams are great trade partners as it pertains to Marner, despite how much better Marner would assist this team. I just don't think Marner waives to come to SEA nor do I think the teams would come to an agreement on a price. SEA is not in a "win now" mode, and Marner isn't going to be difference-maker alone on this team. SEA would rather let their high-end prospects develop and join the team than spend like there is no tomorrow on high-end talent now.
Additionally, GMRF is not known for moving 1st round draft picks, and I don't think even someone who is as talented as Marner is likely to change that considering how many strong pieces are in the top 10 that could help SEA, especially on defense because the defensive pipeline is not very good.</div></div>
1st has to stay in the deal, take out Nyman and replace him with lesser piece(s). There aren't many RWers who have outproduced Marner since he entered the league, so you don't get him for what essentially amounts to Burakovsky and Oleksiak. Like what makes them so valuable lol?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AEcho</b></div><div>SEA declines and blocks your number. That is a fortune for SEA to give up. You are asking for a top prospect, an established top 4 D-man, a top 6 winger, and 8OA for effectively just Marner. Lily would be relegated to a bottom pair D-man and SEA certainly doesn't need Kampf for the bottom 6. SEA isn't giving up all of that, plus taking on what is essentially cap dumps for a guy who is isn't signed long term when SEA also has Berniers they have to sign.
Marner is good, but he isn't worth that package for 1 year.</div></div>
Value is fair imo.
1st + Nyman + Oleksiak for Marner
Burakovsky for Liljegren + Kampf
Seattle comes out of this a much better team, probably playoff worthy. You have several prospects ahead of Nyman, I purposely went down your depth chart and picked a lesser name.
Bjorkstrand Beniers Marner
Schwartz McCann Eberle
Tolvanen Wright Gourde
Kartye Kampf Tanev
Dunn Larsson
Evans Liljegren
DuMoulin Borgen

But good to know your personal bias takes leverage over facts.</div></div>
Exactly, give him top 6 minutes and time on PP1 and he can produce similarly to Vatrano, while better fitting the age of their core going forward, and not requiring a significant raise next summer. He’s likely a deadline deal for this very reason.

A 21 man roster isn’t a big deal at all. If we can get better value than Smith that works too. Just ideally want a veteran winger on 1 year that can still play. Also can’t think of any reason why Cowan can’t make the team.

Leafs can do better. Any deal involving him should either be quality players with similar term or a more standard 1st + player + prospect.

It’s mutually beneficial though. I don’t think Marner is appreciated here and the abuse he takes would take a toll on anyone. You can have your opinion, just don’t act like there isn’t a good enough reason for him to waive, there certainly is now.

He's not dumb enough to give that up just because fans are "unwelcoming" lol</div></div>
These sort of things happen despite what you think. Marner obviously doesn’t think his success hinges on Matthews, that’s a really bad take.

Not necessarily. It may be at a point now where Marner feels unwelcome and a result is willing to waive if it’s on his terms.
