Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>Why do Islanders fan insist on including Josh Ho-Sang in every deal on here. the NHL is not a big place - everyone hears things. So if the Islanders want to try and unload an unhappy Ho-Sang, that's fine, they are just not going to get much for him.</div></div>
reason is, I 100% believe that he is done with the islanders. I think he has no other opportunities on getting a 3rd or 4th chance even after his non-sense especially with Lou as the GM. He has no trade value at this point. why keep him

Marner offersheet and 2 center trades
they can sign Marner to a long term deal. this issue with the leafs is their defense which is atrocious. unless they trade Nylander for a top 4 D, they need more then that defensively.

Buy at the deadline but sell pieces not viewed as long term solutions
definitely well done!!! on the LA Kings trade, would it be better to offer those pieces maybe an extra pick for Muzzin? I love Toffoli and can replace Eberle for another year which is great. But an extra big top 4 Dman would be solid...thoughts?

4-5 year contract yes...8 years? will be 38 years old, no thanks
I know he will want long term deal but I would say no and bring Sorokin over from the KHL and pay him $4-$5mm a year

its unreal on how Snow has tarnished this team with Laad and Bailey's contracts. Baileys career year in the past 9 seasons because of Tavares. could have easily traded him at the trade deadline is he knew he wasn't going to make any trades to make a playoff run. those contracts will prevent them from making any significant signings for the next several years. Boychuck should have received a 5 year extension max!! knowing he was on the backend. another disaster and buyout in the next 2 years.

Duchene and Ryan (year 2)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>It's not so much a comparison, as it is an example of teams expecting too much of good players, especially good players when they were younger. It doesn't mean Duchene is bad, he's just not a player you can build a team around, and his time spent in Colorado is living proof of that. Maybe it was more Ottawa's dysfunctional dressing room and management that played more a role in the deterioration of the team last season, but it just seems peculiar that losing follows Duchene around.</div></div>
They don't have another center coming up in their system. I believe Bellows is a W. Duchene is still a very good hockey player and would be a great # 2 center behind Barzal. Would you rather Nelson as the # 2 center when the season begins LOL?

Possible Moves?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>trickydick55</b></div><div>I Def like the team but I just don't see CBJ trading panarin unless they are out of the playoff picture. Both Panarin and Bobrovsky are likely out next year so this is really their last year to take a run at it.
Assuming they are willing to trade Panarin, I don't want to give up bellows. I'd give up toews before bellows. with Barzal and Lee due to make good money shortly you're gonna need high talent, low cost kids to come in and fill out the roster. he was an absolute beast in the W last year and has improved every year since hes been drafted and I think its a mistake to trade him away.
as for the Duchene trade I think you could not pay anyone to take dal colle at this point but other than that I think thats the right value.</div></div>
I see awhat you mean by extending lee and Barzal. That's why I put Bailey into the trade who will be making $5.5 for the next 6 years and panarin making $6m this year. So that will be close to an even swap salary wise even if panarin ends up making $7-8m yr long term , baileys cap hit is off the books.

Duchene and Ryan (year 2)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>It doesn't bother you at that losing has followed Matt Duchene's NHL career? Sure, some of the teams he has played on weren't very good, but it's definitely fascinating that the Avalanche suck before a mid-season trade of Duchene and the year beforehand, the Sens were quite good and even still decent at the time they acquire Duchene and then they just completely fell off the rails. Food for thought is all.</div></div>
I don't think you can compare the Kessel situation in TOR to Duchene in COL
