Marner offersheet and 2 center trades

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Wanted to play around with how a team including Marner would look. Biggest issue was C depth. Coyle may wind up only being a rental. I see AA as the long term 2C piece. Enough cap space to sign everyone worth keeping that has an expiring contract as well.

You think they can hit a $10M figure? I'm just asking. I think MM is honestly worth about $8.5-9M. A lot depends on AM34's situation in my opinion. Almost any contract he hypothetically got offered should be matched. MM is trickier. You guys would have to do a lot of legwork to make it work financially

I'll disagree. Leafs don't match because they don't have to. Marner takes the unsigned offer sheet to the Leafs for negotiation purposes. Marner knows the life long value of being a Leaf, especially on a Cup winning Leaf team (projection). Marner signs long term with the Leafs less money. Heck Tavares supposedly was offered 13m by the Sharks, he know the value of being a Leaf.

Not even close for AA, The cost would be prohibited for Edmonton. So it would be the same for the Islanders as well. Dobson or Walhstrom would be the ask. And it would stop right there for the Islanders. And rightfully so.

Leafs would match I expect him to sign close to 10m even without an offer sheet

Uhhh what? And what does EDM have to do with that? AA had a nasty contract dispute and who knows if that'll happen again. I think I'm solving two huge needs for DET's long term rebuild. Everyone expected DET to go Defense before Zadina fell to their laps. Aho is more ready than you think. Plus, who is in the pipeline as a long term solution in net? These are two long term, cost controlled assets.

I agree, Wahlstrom/Dobson isn't even in our conversation. It would take a much larger asset in return for us to let either go,

Because your pieces aren't remotely interested for us to move AA, Friedman mentioned in his podcast that Edmonton has strong interest in AA. That's why i mentioned them. And Detroit would ask for one of their D prospects like Bear/Jones or Bouchard. Because AA isn't on the market. Detroit doesn't have to move him he's on pace for 50 points this season on a bad team. So he's going to be costly a lot more then what you're offering us.

You're wasting your time with this offer sheet BS. He's never going to go unsigned beyond July 1st so this is all moot.

they can sign Marner to a long term deal. this issue with the leafs is their defense which is atrocious. unless they trade Nylander for a top 4 D, they need more then that defensively.
