2019-20 Breadman

Created by: Rooney
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2019
Published: Jan. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't watch NYI all that often, but with all of there pending UFA's, I thought it would be fun to try and predict.

I think Eberle may be the odd man out IF NYI is able to sign Lee, Nelson and Panarin.

Could NYI look similar to this next year or am I way off?

You can't sign Panarin for 8 years unless you trade for him

Even with some guys contracts coming off the books, I'd have hard time seeing Barzal being able to resign with the remaining cap the following year.

Another issue that was going through my mind as well. I think there MIGHT be ways around it if you can move 1-2 contracts...but that all depends on if a team is willing to take it eg. Ladd lol.

Really? I thought that was pretty accurate. What do you think Nelson would sign for?

I think an easier solution is simply not resigning some of those players like Lee or Nelson frankly.

Just checked his stats...I thought he was getting a lot more pts than he is. Consistent 20 goal guy, but I think around 5.2-5.5 would be a more accurate range, maybe a 5 year deal?

Fair enough, I would have to think Nelson would be gone first over Lee.

Yup me too. Although one of NYI needs would then be center. Considering they just added Panarin, I'd rather keep whichever guy is a better center at let the winger go.

Lee will get somewhere between $6 mil and $6.5 mil for 5 or 6 years. Nelson, I think, will be offered a low-ball contract that has him more fit for the 2nd/3rd line role. He falls into the category of Okposo or Nielsen. Someone can overpay him and think he's more than he is, or he can take what he deserves and capitalize in a system that he'd fit well into.
