In my opinion the caps have way more upside on this trade and it is crazy to think how much LA paid only to have Kuemper!

Pretty Low risk, high reward trade for the Caps. If he bounces back this will be an all time trade.

If he doesn’t bounce back, then the Caps will just have to bottom out once Ovi retires. Which was already a possibility

Kind of funny that when you pull up LAK trade history on here that the last two moves were acquiring PLD and then trading him less than a year later:

That 2nd was acquired by trading away Durzi to ARZ just a few days before the traded for PLD. Its crazy that all LAK has to show for trading away all those players is Darcy Kuemper

Looooool, just terrible from the caps.
Even if they don’t like Kuemper, his contract is only 5x2, PLD they’re stuck with 8.5 x 7!!!!

lol, Crapitals deserve every bit of alleged negativity PLD brings. While I'd be down for a PLD bounceback, I'm against it if it's for the Caps.

Kuemper buy out

2024-25: $2.17m
2025-26: $3.67m
2026-27: $4.42m
2027-28: $0.92m
2028-29: $0.92m
2029-30: $0.92m

Even if Kings made trade just to buy out Kuemper…it’s probably a win over long-term. Dubois’s buyout is 14-years and higher cap charge at peak. LAK just created a lot of flexibility.

(Not saying anyone will be bought out)
