PLD for Marner who gives more

Don't agree. Marner has full NMC and his contract is up. Leafs won't get fair value for MM, who is also overpaid to boot.
I agree Kings would have to add, but Leafs won't get someone like Mccann for MM

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Norlinder put up 10 points in the SHL as a 20 YO and was one of the best defenders ever night for Frolunda. Montreal absolutely wrecked his confidence the following year and he's never been the same. Now he's playing 3rd pairing in the AHL and looks like a shell of himself. He wasn't overhyped, he was just that good.
Not sure how you think he's going to play top 4 time in Laval
Matheson
Hutson
Xhekaj
Harris
Struble
Enstrom
Trudeau
He's definitely not the 5th best defender there.</div></div>
Well I'm assuming you meant to put the LD depth on that list. So going with that...there will be changes next season. This is my depth at LD
NHL:
Matheson
Guhle (move him to LD where he belongs)
Hutson
Xhekaj
AHL:
Strubble
Engstrom
Harris and/or Barron will be moved before Game#1.
I can't remember if Strubble has to clear waivers, but I javelin him in AHL. If he has to clear than he'll stay up until he's traded too to make room for others.

Norlinder was never that great. Habs overhype their prospects. Sometimes ppl just don't pan out.
Engstrom will get top4 minutes in Laval with Reinbacher which is great for him.

Habs and Guhle avoid the Vlasic comp and opt for the Drysdale bridge instead
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wreckless</b></div><div>Vlasic is paid as a top two defenseman for the Blackhawks right now. As determined by situational usage, and ice time. That’s also what he projects to be going forwards.
Overpaid vs. Underpaid is a subjective opinion, I don’t find there’s much utility going there with my mind. Cuz subjective opinions? Meh…. It is what it is.
The relevant comp for Guhle is players from his draft class and age bracket. I do not believe Guhle should command a higher cap hit than Vlasic on a 6 year deal. On an 8 year deal yes, because two extra UFA years.</div></div>
Ok. Well time will tell. Either I'm way out to lunch and I don't see all the 'good' everyone sees, or Vlasic's ability to play top-end minutes on a good team increases.
I don't understand how people think he's a top2 dman when he played what 20, 21 minn ATOI on the 30th best team.
I can't think of any dman drafted outside of the 1st round who developed on a bad team and still ended up being top2. Anywayys, we'll see...that's enough from me

Do you disagree that with my thought that Vlasic is overpaid or that he's not a comparable to Guhle?

It is a really bad and risky idea to bank any top4 dspot on dmen who haven't even played 100 games in the big leagues.
Vlasic contract is bad IMO. I know everyone disagrees. But imagine Korchinski and Vlasic coming to training camp next ear thinking they have a top4 spot in the bag. Makes for horrible competition in the lineup and doesn't spur growth

These guys are 22/23/24 years old and cost controlled, Barron doesn't even have Arb rights yet.
Cmon dude every GM would prefer RFAs with potential to improve compared to that.
Look at teams against the Cap like TML, TBL, Winnipeg who cant attract UFAs. Of course these guys are worth more than that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaun80</b></div><div>The 1st two trades are jut as bad, I see Montreal ACGMs trading away Harris and Barron for 3rd round picks all the time, so adding a 3rd doesn't move you up 7 or 6 positions in the first round.</div></div>
The problem is they're worth more than 3rd round picks....that's undervaluing them. They're both young Dmen, who will be staple 3rd pair for a while, and I think Barron will be Petry 2.0, and age well into his late 20s.
Sometimes I think people rly overvalue draft picks. A 3rd round pick has like a 10% chance of turning into an NHL player of 4+ seasons. A 2nd round pick is like 25%. Both these guys are showing they will have 10 years +/-
I get what you're saying but I disagree with how ppl value them

I cant BELIEVE you're comparing Guhle to Vlasic.
Xhekaj is closer to Vlasic in value.
Guhle deserves 7 x 6M, if he bridges 2,3 years he'll get 4, 4.5M.
Which shows how overpaid Vlasic is

I respectfully disagree with everyone saying this is a good contract. He's played less than 100 games. 6 years @4.5M is crazy risky.
What was the rush to sign him long-term???? Sorry but this guy is a 3rd pairing dman. Hate the risk to this.

I think next year would be interesting. I think he can get a lot at the trade deadline.
