I like the idea of using the cap space to collect more assets but I feel like moving from a 2nd to a 1st isn't enough to compensate for eating 2x7m on a very rapidly declining Lee.

I personally think the draft capital going to Chicago is a little light in both of these deals.

Hey, I can't argue too hard. If Kyle Davidson was successful in getting more...I'd of course be ok with that. As far as the Anders Lee trade goes. To me, he brings A LOT more to the Hawks. He's the NYI Captain. His leadership (like Foligno) is sorely needed on this team. Maybe that allows for a guy like AA or Hall to get traded at the TDL...and free up space for Nazar or Lardis if they're playing well? It's being able to have flexibility WITHIN the 2 year window. Hall/AA would indeed help us get towards playing more meaningful games at the end of the season...for sure. BUT if Nazar is crushing it in Rockford...wouldn't it be nice to be able put him with Anders Lee? That's a HECK of a mentor. AND Centering could be Dickinson who does just a ton of stuff defensively that could allow for a rookie like Nazar some offensive freedom.

Surprisingly, it seems Nazar is already pretty good defensively at the NHL level. But, yeah, if you put him on a line with another defensively responsible player like Dicky, it could make it easier on both to be more offensive. I honestly have no clue what is going to happen this summer or the next few years, KD has set up everything to be so open ended, but I am excited to watch it unfold.

Keepsaying it in these Lee dump trades....he is overpaid for what he is at this point by maybe 3 million per, but would be a useful piece if you are intent on building a culture and a better (then the last couple of years) on ice product. I would gladly include the LA King's 2nd w/ the Nucks 2nd to get #18 and Lee.

That's a bit much to me. Two 2nds? I agree with what you're saying about Lee, but that's almost free then.

There are many ways we can address those things, though. All that matters is what the cap space is worth to the Isles. We don't need to over compensate on their cap issues.

Those 2 late 2nds offset #18 and makes the net of those picks the equivalent of #28 using the sound of hockey value chart

Fair enough. I wasn't looking at the chart. I should have been. I do like that chart though.

Vancouver accepts. Honestly I would be willing to give another 4th or 5th on top as well.

That's fair. There are soo many smaller variations that could occur. I've seen the Hawks sending a 5th. I've see VAN sending a 4th or 5th. Those are the smaller pieces. The 2nd for Mik is the core of the trade. But I appreciate your honest feedback!
