Campbell isn't even good enough to start in the AHL, and as a pure cap dump with no value at all as a player it'll cost more than this to get someone to take him.
Buyout may be EDM's best option with him. Ceci might be a little overpaid for value but at least he can play, EDM can probably move him for something.

Sounds like TOR should just keep him

TOR can get a pick for Liljegren but the other two you're either giving away or (Jarnkrok) probably having to pay someone to take.

Are you saying 8 years wasn't a good bet on a 24 year old hot-and-cold guy who had already worn out his welcome on two teams? How was Blake to know!

PLD and his horrible contract are close to unmoveable. Better off just keeping him and hoping he turns into what you hoped when the deal was signed.

CAR seems like they could benefit more from improving at 2C and 3C than what will probably be a small upgrade in net from the current pair to Ullmark.
Ullmark probably has low 1st round trade value but if that swap happened, how much would it move the needle for CAR?

A probable roster for next year
I know how negative TOR fans can be, honestly the roster is a playoff team even if you just "run it back" - the questions are in net. Woll and Talbot, not inspiring. Gotta come up with a creative way to get better there.

Taking on contracts
NMC's are a complicating factor but I love how every commenter on here is an expert on who will waive (generally, nobody).
It's their right to refuse to waive but why is everyone pretending like none of these guys want out, or could be persuaded out.

Building through cast-offs Give Feedback
Targets to potentially acquire as cap dumps:
- Reilly Smith
- John Tavares (probably doesn't waive?)
- JG Pageau
- Kuzmenko / Mikyehev in VAN
- Robby Fabbri
- Jeff Skinner
- Anders Lee
Note I'm not claiming none of these guys can still play, only that their current teams are motivated to move them primarily for cap reasons. Given that some players in CHI voiced concerns about guys being short-term focused because they know they won't be around for long, the FO might be more cautious about taking on cap dumps. But the fact remains CHI has plenty of cap and can use that to get more assets if they choose.

Year Three of Rebuild
That's about how much CHI would have to overpay Stamkos to get him to play out his remaining years on a non-contender.
Hard pass on Tanev at that price, or any price really. What are you going to do with him if the prospect pipeline produces someone who's ready to play soon?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drive_for_Five</b></div><div>Any interest in either Simon Holmstrom or Oliver Wahlstrom?</div></div>
Wahlstrom needs a change of scenery. He's probably a bust but what the hell, CHI could give him a try.
JGP is owed 2x5 so the cost to unload him (to a non-contender) might be higher than a 2nd and a prospect NYI no longer wants. A contender might value what JGP has to offer, enough to give NYI a low level asset in return.

Load the frig up take 2
The cost to unload 2 more years at $7m is not a single 2nd round pick. CHI got that to take Dickinson from VAN and they got a 2nd and 4th to take Zaitsev. Both of those players made considerably less than Lee.

Expanding the pool
CHI is past the point of the rebuild where quantity is more important than quality.
They have bodies in the system and what they need now is to roll the dice on high-end talent, impact players. Even of the boom-or-bust variety.

Feels like an overpay for Hronek, who seems like he benefitted a lot from his pairings this year. How much does he move the needle for TOR?
Personally I'd love CHI to take Tavares, I proposed acquiring him as a short-term complement to Bedard last summer too. Would he waive? No clue. But if he will, "Tavares to CHI for ____" seems to make too much sense not to happen.

I love Demidov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Rumors are between Levshunov and Demidov, but who really knows. What is certain is that Demidov has just as high, if not higher, of a ceiling as Celebrini and would be a half step behind Celebrini in tiers with the players behind Demidov a full step behind Celebrini. Hawks have a big hole at RW with zero natural RW's in the pipeline. Demidov also is equal to Michkov of Kucherov at the same age, or even better. I don't see how the Hawks can pass him, but if they do, I can't see how they can pass on Levshunov.</div></div>
Agreed, the only complicating factor could be uncertainty about him coming over. If the front office is convinced he comes to North America after his 1 remaining year on the KHL deal is up, then this pick is a slam dunk.

Do we know that the team is sold on him? Honest question, haven't seen anything definitive yet.
I agree that trading down for quantity isn't likely to be the move for CHI now. The prospect pipeline has a lot of bodies in it, they won't all pan out but at this point it makes more sense to aim for elite talent rather than more bodies.

CHI would probably take 1 year of Smith. Not sure they'd pay for the privilege but a 6th round pick is pretty close to "nothing" so, why not.

A 2C that Rod Will Trust
Stephenson makes sense for CAR but is one of those guys who is walking into such an advantageous position in free agency that he's likely to get way, way overpaid.
I'm not saying he's "worth it" but if he signs for less than $6-7m AAV I'll be amazed.
