        From The Hockey News:

"The fans have turned on a player who missed a check on David Pastrnak's OT winner, who doesn't change his game for the playoffs, who whines and complains when things aren't going his way. "

That type of player is the last thing that Buffalo needs.

(go ahead, take your 13-year playoff drought shots)

The offers they are proposing above are ridiculous but this also isn't enough. Norris is close to net zero value with that contract

Then we keep Norris. He was on pace for 50pts in an injury year

I genuinely believe if Sabres ownership wasn’t bleeding financially they’d be all over making a huge splash for marner.

Aside from his full no trade, that’s the major obstacle imo. I’m not sure how they give him the contract he wants.

The other concern is even if they could/would meet contract demands, how does the locker room react to him making so much more than guys like Tage? There’s a reason the devils held firm on not paying Meier and Bratt so much more than Hughes. Sabres did this once before and it burned them.

In a different world this is a spicy idea and good for all things rivalry related. Alas, in this one it’s unlikely to come to pass.

No they shouldn’t. Pre injury he was a high end 200ft centre. They shouldn’t try to move him. They should move him if a deal makes sense

They could create it but it would require them to spend actual cash to free up cap space (buyout, retention etc.) which they aren’t in a position to do

I mean, this will be the offseason we find out whether or not they're actually committed to spending to win or not. Adams did make quite the fuss about wanting to win immediately during his press conference, so maybe Terry will open the wallet? Minority Ownership Stake Sale of the Bills should also bring in a lot of money for Terry.

That’s the hope but we don’t know the extent of the difficulties. Like opening the wallet in this context may simply mean they were willing to pay granato to leave, and pay actual nhl assistants market value.

That’s not insignificant fwiw and should help but it’s a far cry from trading top prospects for nhl player and signing him to a big money deal

Legit curiosity: is he on track to come back healthy, and have a career? That's 3 surgeries on the same shoulder, right? When healthy, he's fantastic, but that's a serious concern if it's recurring.

The real question is: where does Marner choose to go?

With a full NMC, he's not going to waive it blindly and say "send me wherever". If he has a brain, he'll dictate exactly where he wants to go and Toronto will have to take what they can get if they identify him as the piece that has to move (a la Kaberle to Boston). It'll be a good return (otherwise you keep him as an own-rental), but I don't think it'll be the core piece/top prospect/early 1st Toronto fans are expecting...

The real question is: where does Marner choose to go?

Agreed but there are not many Cup contenders capableof adding $10M+ Cap. The number of teams will be extremely limited if he decides to chop many of them. This Drama will unfold once they can Okeefe and Shanahan

What does your poll mean? Like I get you’re insulting both Marner and Gaudreau with it, but how?

Legit curiosity: is he on track to come back healthy, and have a career? That's 3 surgeries on the same shoulder, right? When healthy, he's fantastic, but that's a serious concern if it's recurring.

I would not sell low on him. I would use his as a valuable piece of a bigger trade tho or keep him. Hoping his 200ft game comes back. He will be back

5th overall becoming 2/3rds of marner is would be worth more then marner alone. Habs window is in 2-3 years and they won't want to give up all that and then pay marners dad 12mil
