Where would Macklin Celebrini fit in Ottawas lineup next year
Mini ACGM here:
Sign Pinto to 4.5Mish x 8.
Sign Carrier (or Martinook or Trenin) 2.25x3.
Trade Chychrun to WSH for: Nic Dowd, 2024 1st round pick.
Send WSH a 3rd for TVR.
Trade Brannstrom to Carolina for Jesper Fast.
Draft 2RD and 1 FWD with 3 top 40 picks in 2024 draft. (And Celebrini of course)
Don't pull a Dorion and DO NOT go big game hunting trying to land a superstar goalie. Sign 2 decent goalies to reasonable, short term deals in UFA knowing the 2025-26 UFA goalie class is loaded. Stolarz and Brossoit are top 2 options.
Buyout Korpisalo
Trade Forsberg anywhere with like a 3rd or 4th. (or last case scenario keep him as one of the goalies and bank he will return to his form from a couple of years ago before the MCL's were destroyed).
Resign Parker Kelly to league min for 1 year.
Sign Tanev to like 4.5-5M x 2 years (or maybe 3 if it's necessary to bring him here and lowers the price). (DeMelo would also work but I doubt he hits the market. If we can't get one of them were in trouble.

Pretty sure we have the cap to do something like this.

Testing out a Marner extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Why?
Tkachuk - Pinto - Marner would be an elite line with no flaws</div></div>
Making fun of Mitch Marner is one of my favourite hobbies so it would be hard if he was all of a sudden a senator and I had to cheer for him.
But actually I don't think it's wise to pay a winger 10+ million bucks.
If you put all that cap into Marner, you sacrifice huge depth. Goaltending would be worse, bottom six would stink, and we wouldn't be able to afford a solid 3rd pair.
And we already have Batherson and Giroux at RW.
I'm not gonna get all that excited about Tkachuk-Pinto-Marner when Tkachuk-Pinto-Batherson has been great and doesn't need to be tinkered with.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>Who is breaking that? Calgary is currently retaining on 2 but they expire after this year</div></div>
Calgary would be fine because the Hanifin and Tanev retentions expire. The point was more just that it is outrageous to ask a team to use all 3 retention slots in one trade.
And that's not to mention the trade is absolutely awful for Calgary

Great offseason easy mode
don't think we should go big game hunting on the goalie market. We should assess cheap options. Sign a couple solid 1B's and maybe make a trade if it's for a cheap goalie with some term that is low risk. (Lindgren or Ingram maybe). Also assess KHL market. There are plenty of good goalies available after next season that we can maybe go for when we are really trying to be competetive.
Also not a fan of that Pittsburgh trade at all, don't want to go anywhere near Rakell and his contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>They need William Carrier. Offer him like 4 x 2 mill or something and get him here</div></div>
here's how I feel. William Carrier number 1 target to bolster depth. If that doesn't work out, Trenin or Martinook are solid plan B's.
We really need one of DeMelo or Tanev though IMO

Who says no
Frankly this trade just doesn't make sense for either team.
Carolina doesn't need Chychrun in the slightest with Orlov, Nikishin, and Skjei already on their left side. And I don't think they should be taking such a risk on Norris when they are in such a win now mode. If Norris gets moved, it would make sense for him to go to a team that is retooling and can be patient with him.
Also, I don't think the Sens should move him. It probably won't be a couple years until he's back to his usual self but I'm willing to wait because he's an incredible 2-way sniper. He will be a very good player again and if we move him to clear cap in a year we won't even be all that competetive in it will come back to haunt us.
As for Ottawa, I don't see why we would want Kotkeniemi. He's not all that, is making too much, and we are already deep down the middle. And Necas would just be more of what plagued us this season. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he's not strong defensively and we need more veterans. We shouldn't be spending cap on 1-way wingers. We really need some solid, hard to play against 2-way veterans that make like 2-4 mil ish.
We should just trade Chychrun for a solid veteran and a pick to replenish our prospect pool and hang on to Norris.
Brannstrom to Carolina for Fast would be a more sensable trade.

just looked into him, pretty impressive numbers for a 21 year old in the KHL!
Thanks
I'm pretty sure he's no longer draft eligible though so we would have to sign him I think???
