Sabres
This doesn't actually free up salary for Vegas though since Jokiharju is almost certainly going to get a raise in arbitration from his TOI alone.

Best move is to buy out Skinner
It's definitely not. you get tagged with a cap hit of over 6 million in the summer of 2026 when you'll need every penny.
If they really need space they can just avoid throwing money at Dillon, Jokiharju and Pacioretty, none of whom are worth the amount you've given here. Could probably move Greenway's 3 mil too.

Opening Night Prediction
Well you'd free up a good chunk of cap space by not signing brendan Dillon.
Krebs probably doesnt get 2 mil, and Girgensons will have to take some kind of cut after a down year.

idk what you mean by stuck. He's probably best suited to that role on any playoff team. Eventually gets moved if/when a cap crunch hits.

highly doubt Lindy goes that route. I mean Dahlin will play the right side thats fine but I doubt Power's partner will be a lefty.

oof I know most Sabres fans will say no but honestly I'd have to think about that deal. Would come down to how the first 4 picks shook out.

Idk, he was once highly touted. And his numbers have bounced back pretty well on a bad Chicago team.

Every Marner trade is going to be bad value. Any time you trade a first line winger who is like top 5 at his position, you are probably going to lose the deal. Thats without even factoring the NMC.
The value add is either in getting someone who is a near perfect fit for the next HC or squeezing as much cap room as possible.
Who knows, maybe Seth Jones is Berube's favourite defenseman

Roster
I don't think the Sabres can actually afford to give 8.5 to a winger. And I assume if TK was willing to take less he'd just stay?

The most likely scenario
I may be wrong but I don't think Pelley's responsibilities are on the hockey side of things. At any rate, he's probably acutely aware that theyve exhausted all the tinkering options they could. Granted they were, like in half of their other series losses, exactly one shot away from advancing, but it's much harder to sell fans on that now. New HC will likely get a different make up to the team to ensure they hit the ground running.

im not dogging kampf's value just not a spot for him on the Sabres, who need a 3C significantly better than Kampf.

I get the logic, but 27 isn't so old that he couldn't be a good vet to have in the room for the next core. Obv if the dollars dont make sense then yeah thats unfortunate but you don't wanna get stuck with a bad contract.
Idk, Konecny just strikes me as quintessential Flyers material. I'd have a hard time picturing him on any other team lol.

independent of this acgm, what are the actual rumours/plans with TK? Is it more likely he re-signs or is this a writing on the wall kinda deal (that he'd be moved before contract talks etc.) ?

what about
Sabres pass for reasons that have nothing to do with value (which is great here) or division rival stuff. We've got the same situation NJ had with Bratt and Meier. Top dog Tage makes 7 mil. It will artificially keep the salary of future forward contracts down, which is good, but it also means that if you add a forward like Marner and pay him 12 mil, you are probably going to lose the locker room.

I genuinely hope you're right, I just don't see it. Maybe Adams and co. will surprise.
