I think drunk me lowballed his value a bit honestly. But it is what it is

Kuemper/Merzlikins swap makes me nervous but I think I would do it to help get Laine

Biggest concern with Kuemper/Merzlikins is that Kuemper's buyout is much uglier than Elvis's. That said, that might work for the Jackets. Really depends a lot on the two prospects - particularly Hyland.

I'd do it solely for the fact that if Elvis doesn't work out, his buyout is cheaper than Kuempers (for some reason, i dunno why lol)

Both are relatively mid level prospects. I think Sutter can eventually be a bottom 6 grinder type player in the NHL. Hyland has more potential i think, but he's also a bigger boom or bust risk.

Elvis' buyout is better but Kuemper also has a history of actually being a good goalie ...

So does Elvis, technically; it's just that his history of doing poorly is more recent and has lasted a bit longer. But he's been very effective before.

Obviously it's not the same level of risk at all, but it's nonetheless less extreme than "never".

I genuinely think Elvis just needs to get out of Columbus. Maybe he'll never be the great goalie he was when he went on a tear at the beginning of his NHL career, but I think there's still a decent NHL goalie there. A lot has happened to him in Columbus and I think just moving on to a new city and new group, especially a group as close knit as the Caps, would help him tremendously, mentally if nothing else.

Not bad! Instead of Stamkos, I might add D. There's plenty of UFA options

I don't even like the thought of adding Stammer, not sure where that came from lol
