Why play a lesser Dakota with JT? There might be some teams looking to shed cap such as Calgary (Bread man), Isles (Nelson), Flyers (Farabee). Just some ideas as I struggle with Greenway for a 2nd and top 6 role.</div></div>
Agreed, there are better options out there, and a 2nd might be too much to pay. I was looking at it as adding a physical guy in that salary range with only 1 year left on his deal to provide some flexibility for the following season. Could absolutely swap Joshua and Greenway on the lines there.

Ullmark for Draisaitl
IF (big if) the Oilers think they won't be able to re-sign Drai, then a trade makes sense... just not for a goalie as the centerpiece. It would likely be a very good package from some team that's desperate for star power to market.

The only gripe I'd have as a Canucks fan would be having to wait to 2025 for the pick. Given our lack of picks this year, it would be nice to have a 1st this year, but I highly doubt Arizona does the 6th for Hronek.</div></div>
Yeah, I don't think the 6th pick in this draft is realistic for Hronek. But assuming Utah tries to beef up the roster to make the playoffs they may be open to moving the 2025 1st. VAN could also flip that pick for the right player as well, but with this roster I think it makes sense to hold onto it. They could always use it as trade bait just before the 2025 draft when its value will be highest.

I think a return for either would be pretty close to the same. Petey is the C, but Brady brings the more physical presence that GM's loooove.

Moving Petey would be a massive mistake. It might be fun to play around with ideas in ACGM's, but VAN has nobody to realistically replace him. You could say the same about Tkachuk for OTT. But I would tend to value the center position higher even if the players are on par.

I get that. Not many players offer the overall package that Tkachuk does.

For sure it might require more, but it's a solid base for an offer. Hronek is worth at least a 1st + 2nd, and Lekks is an elite prospect.

guentzel or reinhart
I'd love Guentzel on Petey's wing, but even if the team manages to move Mikheyev's contract I think VAN will be looking at less expensive top 4 winger options (maybe Toffoli or Teravainen?).
Another scoring forward is a priority, but so is overall team depth. Adding a guy with a 9.5 AAV is going to seriously limit the depth options; in this ACGM you've filled out the forwards really nicely but the D is not as good or deep overall.

Some of the panic Leafs trades on here are mind boggling. I know Leafdom is really disappointed, but I've seen some crazy sell-low trades for Marner especially.

Would this work
IF (and that's a big if) VAN was interested in giving KK a shot on his current deal, then the contract that makes the most sense to send the other way is Mikheyev. Almost a wash on the AAV's, but Mikheyev's is only two more years.

Will be interesting to see what the Flames do in the offseason. Still kind of expecting Markstrom to move, but it'll have to be somewhere he wants to go so not a guarantee. IMO you should pass on Dumba, but I'm rooting for Kylington to return to form.

The Sens will never get softer like that</div></div>
Fair enough. Again, I'm not saying this particular deal is the one the Sens would be interested in; just that if they're considering trading Tkachuk they're going to want a top-line player back.

Frame it however you like. Top line forward for top line forward, possibly with a couple other minor pieces involved to even things out. I'm not saying that deal would happen, but if I'm in the Sens position it's the type of deal I'd be after.

Agreed. The only way VAN moves Hronek is if the contract ask gets WAY out of their comfort zone. I've been predicting for a while on this site that he'll re-up for $7.75m x 8.

Brady Tradechuck
Trying to look at it from OTT's perspective;
This is a team that desperately wants to make the jump to being a playoff contender. They have good young pieces and players entering their prime that should keep them relevant for a while if they can level up. If they do consider trading Brady (and I'm not sure why they would unless he's asking out), I think it will definitely be for a comparable player or package of players that will help the Sens win-now. I don't think Holtz + 2025 1st will be the type of significant pieces they're looking for.
IMO the centrepiece from NJD would be Bratt.

If the deal was Hoglander for Whitecloud straight up I think VAN would consider it. I know the Canucks like Hogs and definitely aren't in a hurry to help a division rival out of a cap jam, but Whitecloud has a great contract.
