PLD MTL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RobbStark003</b></div><div>This guy is 25 and forced his way off two teams. Completely given up on one, playing some of the least inspired hockey. Then his next team, after 1.5 seasons he starts openly talking about playing for another hockey team and trying to force a trade. Has a chance to go to that team, and agrees to a mega contract with LA proving how much he really meant it about Montreal.
I am not touching PLD for the entirety of his career. That guy is a mistake waiting to happen. If his name wasnt French, Habs fans would have never wanted him to begin with.</div></div>
I get all the red flags but he has to know by now that he's on his last legs in this league. I also have faith in Marty to bring the fun back to the sport for him. Plus, he's still a big 2 way player that should be good for 55-60 points a year. Overpaid sure but MTL isn't in cap trouble and the cap is going up. If it's a cheap trade like the one above, I'd take that shot

Call me crazy but if that 1st is #27 then I'd make this deal for the Habs. PLD isn't as bad as he was this year and I would think MSL would work with him and turn it around

Give Marner an extension and he's more valuable than Brady by a fair margin
Size is easy to replace and overrated in this league. In this trade scenario for example, say yes to this trade and then draft Lindstrom. You get a scorer that immediately replaces Brady on the top line and you have a future power forward that's the same size as Brady.
Hell I'd even go further in this hypothetical and say you could then just draft Dickinson with 7 and Ottawa is covered, walking away with two giants from the draft while losing little offensive fire power up front in the short term.

Yeah they can't terminate his contract for using a program that his employer has in place for exact situations like this. He would be able to sue for the rest of his money owed and likely for damages on top of it, as long as he has a good lawyer that it

Overpay for Zegras. I'm on the fence about 5th overall straight up for him, now you're adding multiple first round picks in value on top of 5th.... Not gonna happen.

The difference between Caufield and Brady isn't 5th overall. Let alone adding a good prospect and multiple useful NHL players. This is a price Habs would never pay, it's all hypothetical but if Ottawa actually turned this offer down I'd guarantee you experts would be baffled as to why

Four trades that probably happen if Marc Bergevin becomes Columbuses GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RobbStark003</b></div><div>Using the 1st we got for KK and getting Dvorak was pretty rough. But yeah, he was good at trading, just wish he went All in or Rebuilt properly. All in All, he wasnt a bad GM.</div></div>
That was definitely a mistake. His biggest flaw was not realizing the teams direction earlier. Should have traded Gallagher, Tatar and Danault after that dominate season instead of resigning Gallagher and losing the other two. Taken steps to see what Weber and Price wanted with that change of direction and tanked earlier.
Even that can't be laid Soley at his feet though, gotta imagine ownership had some need to win and pushed him to make moves accordingly. Not a complete failure of a GM but definitely left the team better off than he found it, not as good as he could have left it though

Bergevin only really made one bad trade as his tenure of GM and that was Drouin for Sergachev
Which really points to scouting being a problem, which it always was throughout and development right behind it.
He actually won most of the trades he made, Anderson for Domi, Weise for Danault and Romanov, Pacioretty for Suzuki
The guy deserves criticism but it's mostly criticism of aspects of his job that weren't trades, trades he was mostly successful with

Not close for Ehlers. JPG is 31, making 5 million and likely never plays at a level suited for a top 6 role again. Ehlers is a capable top line player, the difference between them is a lot more than a 2nd

Demidov and Marner are essentially the same player. Undersized star wingers, it moves your playoffs up the time line but Demidov is likely the same kind of player Marner is

If you want to disregard his tough minutes, we can go back to when he was in an easier role in Pitt. Wasn’t good in those easier minutes either</div></div>
Considering he played those tough minutes this year with a 21 year old playing on his offside and you're really over exaggerating how bad he was I would say he'd be just fine in NJ.
Like I said, you just read a Jfresh card and tell people on this site who's bad and who's good. You probably watched 2 games with Matheson this year so you don't actually know what you're talking about

NJD is looking for someone to be very good on the PK and a quality 5v5 player. So not Matheson</div></div>
"Below average minutes 5 on 5"
The guy played the most difficult 5 on 5 minutes in the league last year. We've already had this convo so I know why you don't want Matheson but he would have been NJ best defenseman last year with Hamilton's injury. Agree not worth the 10 pick but don't make stuff up on here just because you don't like a trade idea

Hughes has a big draft day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>NJD needs a shutdown dman who can kill penalties at a high level.
Matheson isn’t that.
He’s bad on the PK, he’s a PP specialist who’d be the 4th dman to get PP time in NJD.
And he’s underwhelming at even strength.
Rather bring back Graves</div></div>
NJ has three dmen who were better on the pp than Matheson? Surprised to hear that considering none of them were the one of the 9 guys above him in defense scoring this year.
Also thought you guys had Seigenthanler and Marino as your shut down guys?
I get you would think he's underwhelming 5 on 5 but consider he faced the toughest competition league wide last year and held his own.
If you're looking for a shut down dman, Matheson ain't it. If you're looking for a good #3 guy who moves the puck, skates with the best of them and can qb a pp then Matheson is who you're looking for.
Doesn't match up to your interests though
