He should be paid like Ovi
Very fair argument. I just don't see it happening. Washington basically gave Ovi that contract knowing he was chasing the goal record even though they were probably going to start rebuilding during it. Tampa probably isn't rebuilding in the next 5 years

This was to show someone you can keep the three amigos they signed for 8 years together together and Stamkos. I believe he'd sign that FULL NMC

Really bad and unfair trade for the caps. There is no benefit. You say we get to keep our picks and prospects by trading for Tavares yet you include the 24 1st?
This makes no sense

Only the conversation between Treliving and JT goes something like this:
GMBT: John got a trade to Washington I need you to waive for.
JT: Brad Go F**" Yourself.

Wouldn't the Caps be so much better off, just spending 11m on a UFA or two, keeping their first.
How about. Stamkos for one season at 11m.....now. that would be "star" power.

He still had 30 goals and 65 points its not a complete cap dump. yes he's not worth the $11M cap hit but he's still a great player with value

Retaining anything would defeat the purpose of the Leaf's moving him, Keep in mind he is only owed $900K in actual salary after July 1st

Leafs would be all over that, and it would leave them 7 mill to grab a D man.

That fwd move is likely Kaliyev from LA. Lindy stays, Dowd stays...he moves Patches, and maybe Jensen too.

Smells like a bidding war to me! Okay, so no to the pop machine request and we'll throw in a bag of pucks and add an autographed (Alex) Vlasic puck in there as well!

The Canes took a shot on him, but it was pretty evident soon that he couldn’t skate at the speed/quickness necessary to play the way the Canes want to. He also isn’t good enough defensively to make up for the foot speed issue.
He’s pretty good offensively, but no where near good enough to support the other deficiencies.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markykins1</b></div><div>Yep it's looking that way. Looking back, this signing seems unnecessary.</div></div>

I'm not sure the Sharks would be very interested in Alex Alex. They're near the contract limit and have way too many LD in their system. I think they'd prefer like a 3rd and 4th

Dowd could get a 1st. So could Mantha and Lindgren possibly (with other additons like eating money and taking back money), but if they are going to go for it they won't trade those guys, so you have a point.

I think those are pretty fair trades. Not sure if it makes sense for all teams involved, i.e. CAR, but they're certainly fair returns.

I can only wish
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markykins1</b></div><div>I think you need to read CF67 last sentence again. His opinion states that 'Habs could sign Mantha if they wanted him after the season'. Then he says 'he's not going to the Habs' inferring that 'If they wanted to, they could try but it's not happening'. Then he says 'the trade is terrible for Washington'. It is because they would be getting only a decent 4th liner to replace a 20 -25 goal scorer. This is in fact, not a good move for Washington. Then he gives the opinion that most of us share that if he's going to be moved that 50% retained to get a 2nd rounder back is a good trade. I don't think he was saying that's what Montreal would/should give. It's the deal that should be made, but not to Habs.</div></div>
thank you!!!
