Kings Reload
I don’t make the trade from a Bruins POV even without Frederic involved.
I would consider Ullmark for PLD@6.5 and someone like Laf. You lose your job if you trade for PLD and it doesn’t work out. I, for one, just think the 1-3-1 sucked for him, but it’s also very very very concerning how easy it is for him to lose interest and play crappy.
If it was my actual job, don’t think I could convince myself to put my job in PLDs hands.

Bruins have had one 1st round pick in 4 years. This year will make it five. They aren’t going to make it six years with only one first round pick for Brock Nelson.

Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tupty</b></div><div>LA gave up so much to get PLD. I can't imagine that they'd give up on him after just 1 year. That seems to be what I've heard from most Kings fans as well.
I don't think Boston needs to send out the 3rd round pick along with Ullmark to get a 1st round pick back in general (NJD fans seem fine with a 2025 1st for Ullmark swap), although the fact that it is a 2024 pick is probably appealing to the Boston FA. I imagine they'd consider sending something more to bump the pick to 2024, but a 3rd rounder is a bit steep.</div></div>
Not sure why Boston would prefer a 2024 pick after the drop off over a 2025 pick.

Just need Ullmark on board. After being miserable in Buffalo before coming to Boston, he is gonna have to get sold that Ottawa has turned it around as an org. Certainly, the new head coach needs to be in place.

How much are they worth 3
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrAicrow2009</b></div><div>However, Swayman is another player needing to be resigned, and i feel he is getting 4 or 5 Million too, Not to mention the Bruins need a 1st line center too</div></div>
Swayman will be getting closer to 7 AAV.
Go do a quick Boston roster. They have way more money than they will know what to do with with the 4.5 in Bergeron/Krejci penalties gone, the 4 million increase everyone is getting, and the 6.8 in expiring contracts for Gryz/Forbort who have already been replaced in the lineup. They could give Swayman his raise, bring back DeBrusk and still swing for a 9-10m dollar guy if they move Ullmark.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McGruff</b></div><div>Rust > Frederick
<strong>But</strong> I think that's the trade-call BOS would pursue w/ PIT...
* BOS adds pick/pros; needs scoring
* PIT retains $1M; needs grit, CAP space, get younger...
PS: other notables for a "HOCKEY" Trade if above is BS = Bunting or O'Connor</div></div>
Frederic has the same 5 on 5 stat line as Crouse over the last season and more 5 on 5 goals than DeBrincat, Marchand, Jarvis, Barkov and Batherson over those two seasons, too. From the 3rd line. With positional flexibility and size. Why exactly is Boston moving him?

I think the Bruins believe in the Bussi and he is waivers eligible so they gotta play him.
And I think the Bruins would be regretting paying Ross that much money in a year.

And not all 1sts are equal, it was a 12th OA pick.
Ottawa would only be interested in that offer if they are interested in Merkulov</div></div>
It would all be a lot cleaner if Ullmark would go to Ottawa and extend there and not require NJ as a pass thru, but I don’t think he would want to go to an org that is in the midst of trying to get functional after his time in Buffalo.

It's an interesting thought. Hard to find good RD, though. Robbing Peter to pay Paul and all. If Necas doesn't stick at C, and there are REAL DOUBTS, this deal doesn't feel great.

Totally, but I don't think that they continue doing that for another new contract for Ullmark. And not sure Swayman would want to sign up for 50/50 work either long term. Just seems like the asset management gods demand that the Bruins move one of the goalies this offseason. And I'm not convinced it won't be Swayman, to be honest, just because he will bring a lot more back and they are of the same quality.

They sure would regret it when they go to give Frederic a new deal after next season.
