Karlsson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Yes. I've seen some amazing highlight reel goals. 2/3 of the way through this season he's scored three goals. Niskanen has topped 47 points three times, and is going to pass 1200 career hits this season. Karlsson won't hit 600, and his opponents have outscored him at even strength by 24 points this year. Maybe he's injured? Or maybe he's just totally out of position and not thinking about playing defense at all. Either way, the Penguins would have a field day.</div></div>
Karlsson is coming off major ankle surgery and isn't back to 100% yet. Did you watch him take a pretty mediocre Ottawa team to 7 games, double OT against the Pens last year?
Twice as many hits doesn't make a guy a better player.
Niskanen may have topped 47 points 3 times, but that's not in the same universe as a guy who has topped 70 points 4 times, and 80 points once. Karlsson is a generational talent, and you are so attached to Niskanen's +/- on a President's trophy winning team that you want to stick with what you know.

stop trading our young talent...its not smart
I'm in between both of you on the Burakovsky topic. His inconsistency is the cause for this. He'll go through stretches where it looks like he should be scoring 35 goals a season, and then he'll go through a stretch where he looks like nothing more than an average, middle six forward. If it were me, I wouldn't trade Burakovsky right now unless it meant we were getting a star forward coming back. Is Pacioretty that guy? Not sure. He's inconsistent too, which would be the whole reason we trade Burakovsky. But I would wait until the end of next season to seriously consider shopping him, if he hasn't broken out and become a legitimate top six forward by then. He shows upside for sure. He does really well cutting in and shooting, which is something that the Caps could really build off of. If he can do that with consistency, than we wouldn't look into trading him. But he hasn't shown he can put it together yet. There's still time, so hold off on trading him for now.

Deadline deals
I would be open to trading Burakovksy if we got a solid option like Pacioretty, but we don’t need to add that much. Also no need for Buffalo to make that deal
