Remember this trade
In this scenario, leafs would protect Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie and Graves and the Avs protect Kerfoot over somebody like Jost or Nieto

As I stated, I don’t think Rielly is a rental as I believe he would resign there

Thoughts on my team
Why is everybody assuming Rielly wouldn’t resign ? Columbus has the money to pay him for his big pay day. Maybe make an extension a part of the trade for Rielly to ease jackets worry. Plus they have 3 1st round picks as it is right now with possibly more coming back from the Seth Jones trade.

I somewhat agree, but he turns 33 in July and with the flat cap..I thought 3 and a quarter was fair

My thoughts
You know, Ceci gets a ton of hate, but put into the proper position (third pairing D), he could be effective. He was just misused because of their lack of depth and he was severely overpaid,

Might as well pay him to score for us than against us
Kapanan got a mid first and a prospect. How is Kerfoot not worth a second? I could change it to a Detroit 3rd but the difference in draft spots is about 13 picks, so I don’t think it changes things that much.

Full Breakdown
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>When you say get a number one goalie on a good contract that would imply there is term on the contract which is not the case. Not saying it’s a bad deal still think it’s good but your kinda misleading with that part.</div></div>
Hence why i added that the benefit for Colorado is them not having to sign a goalie to long contract this year, then having to expose Francouz to Seattle. This gives them 1 good year of Andersen..they can protect which ever goalie they feel is the best...and then can go out and sign whomever they want, potentially being Andersen.

What did you say about Kapanan?

Haha glad I started this debate, we gotta get Ottawa and Edmonton’s attention and make this happen! Ryan for Lucic and Puljujarvi!

I think Lucic would waive to go anywhere else in my honest opinion. I was thinking about salary retention but it kind of plays out how it should

Trades on Draft Daywho says no
I truly don’t see how this only benefits the leafs. They lose two pretty important roster pieces and pick just to shed salary. The sens will need to find a way to get to the cap floor imo which this helps them out with, and Marleau still has a house in San Jose and I truly doubt his family would mind moving on the pacific coast again where they grew up their entire lives. Obviously things would change if they win the cup this year, but I think if Marleau agreed to waive, San Jose could find 3 million in cap space to pay a still productive good player.

I see what you’re saying, but trading Zaitsev’s contract for Lucic’s contract at 4 mil is a win for the leafs IMO

Wild Idea
Haha well I sure started a **** storm here people. Ok, it is plausible I could be a tad short on my trade proposal. I definitely think an additional 1st round pick is too much for Bean. But probably somewhere in between there is a happy medium for both teams.

Trade with detroit, who says no to this?
Well if it comes down to whether I’d play Kronwall or Carrick, I’m choosing Kronwall for a few reasons. He has the veteran experience, he’s won in the playoffs and he could add grit that was left by Polak leaving.

Eric Staal to the Leafs, plus other genius moves.
From a leafs fan, I say no way. Toronto has no need for Eric Staal. He’s old and slow and Toronto plays a young and fast game. Marleau works on the leafs because of his speed still. Spurgeon would be a nice pickup but not for our best prospect and an up and coming player AND a 1st round pick. Like the idea but as a Toronto fan, I say no way to Eric Staal and that trade.

Not enough for Doughty, also, with only 4 mil in cap space, the following year you would have to pay Matthews, Marner, Doughty, Bennett, Gardiner and Kapanan

Leafs Can Afford to Sign JVR, Thorton and Green.
JVR is coming off a career year, he’s not going to want to sign a 1 year deal. He’s going to want a 7 year big money deal in case of an injury or slump year.
