I think we’ll see Fabbro gone. I think we’ll see Tomasino gone. We might see that 4th gone. I just don’t know if Cernak’s the guy for us right now.

As for Glass, Hawks might take a flyer on him. But not for a 3rd.</div></div>
Yeah, that’s more of an any team move. I only picked Chicago because a $2.5M replacement level forward is exactly what they need to reach the cap floor.

Signings fit the mold, and it doesn’t really matter, but I don’t love this for Anaheim and I can’t really put my finger on why. Just feels too much like overspending.

Askarov is ready. I don’t know if Nashville is in a position to give up their first — maybe Tomasino + a second rounder (maybe add on another pick?)

The Jackets also offer sheeted Marner and he didn't sign.</div></div>
You may be right, and trading Marner comes up every offseason. It just feels different this time. Obviously he can block any deal, but (outside observer take) he might really enjoy being out of the limelight. Plus he’d be a star in Nashville.

MONTREAL MARNER
Sensing a variety of opinions in this comment section. FWIW, as an outside observer, I think it’s pretty fair — Marner, despite his flaws, is still really good, and for a in-division deal, a 2D, 3C, 4-6D, 25-32 (or thereabouts) first rounder and a 50-64 second isn’t a terrible price to pay. It’s also probably not a price the Habs are willing to pay.

I don’t love Norris, especially the price we’d have to pay. Ottawa’s looking for a PPG-level return, which you can’t do if he only plays 4 games per season. That would be a fail on par with the Jeannot deal.

Yeah but who’s out there? Maybe Svechkov in a couple years, maybe trade for Zegras (but the Ducks don’t want Saros so you’d have to switch up the return (and he’s not even a first line center really))
This is one of those problems that isn’t really solvable in a year where the top free agent C is Sean Monahan

How id turn this team into a contender
I just posted a Saros + Tomasino + 2nd and 3rd for Marner. I think that’s a bit more likely.
Saros is probably on his way out after today, and I imagine Barry Trotz wants to keep McDonagh.
