Team: 2024-25 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 28, 2024
Published: Apr. 28, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I have no idea how to fix this roster. Marner trade is a pipe dream, maybe we get Zegras instead (Zegras probably fixes the age-old Preds problem of not having a shooter and is younger, Marner pairs better with Forsberg). I just don’t know. My love of the Nashville Predators got crumpled up and thrown aside like a can today. Asky’s ready to go in the minors, and I think we’re pretty close to seeing the last of Juice. We need a lot more scoring and Marner’s on the outs in Leafland, maybe he’d do well down here.

I just don’t know. After two games like this, I just don’t know. Bruno should win the Jack Adams this year for getting THIS TEAM an 18-game point streak.

If we pull this off, I’ll take back every single word. But that’s a ridiculous lack of mental fortitude. Cut 5 minutes out of this series and it’s 3-1 us. That can’t happen.

(And yeah, I’m mostly running it back. I just can’t predict the trades Trotz’s got to do. If he moves Asky I’m probably gonna tune out for a bit while I scream into the void.)

He might with tax breaks lmao. Besides, no way we sniff the playoffs next year, so he can’t be a playoff disappointment like always.

This is actually bad for Nashville. They desperately need a top line center so much more than 1 year of marner.

Yeah but who’s out there? Maybe Svechkov in a couple years, maybe trade for Zegras (but the Ducks don’t want Saros so you’d have to switch up the return (and he’s not even a first line center really))

This is one of those problems that isn’t really solvable in a year where the top free agent C is Sean Monahan

Top line center is the absolute worst position to not have because it's so hard to acquire. Only thing I can think of is overpay for josh norris and pray. Zegras isn't the answer. He'd just be another duchene.

I don’t love Norris, especially the price we’d have to pay. Ottawa’s looking for a PPG-level return, which you can’t do if he only plays 4 games per season. That would be a fail on par with the Jeannot deal.

This.

He aint leaving and for every person that thinks people always leave Toronto
The Jackets also offer sheeted Marner and he didn't sign.

You may be right, and trading Marner comes up every offseason. It just feels different this time. Obviously he can block any deal, but (outside observer take) he might really enjoy being out of the limelight. Plus he’d be a star in Nashville.

Oh I completely agree but as a brand new gm, I'd take that gamble knowing I probably won't be fired yet. Only other way to get a top line center is through the draft. Just look at Boston with zacha and coyle as their centers. If it was possible to get a top center via trade Boston of all teams would've done it by now.

Another gamble could be signing lindholm and hoping for the best

Can’t see the Hawks giving up anything for Glass, let alone multiple picks.

I feel for you. That ending to game 4 was brutal. Us Hawks fans have seen crap like that too often the past 3 seasons.

As for Glass, Hawks might take a flyer on him. But not for a 3rd.

Yeah, that’s more of an any team move. I only picked Chicago because a $2.5M replacement level forward is exactly what they need to reach the cap floor.

They don't need to give up multiple picks to get to the cap floor. They can just overpay a UFA or two on short term deals.
