Hawks would need to be paid to take Jeannot, not the other way around.

What exactly has Jonas Johansson done to get 3rd in return in a trade?

Been a pretty solid goalie in the absence of Vasi.

Sorry, just trying to be honest with you. I don’t like the chances of Davidson being interested.

Davidson paid 4mil for both Perry and Foligno to protect and lead Bedard. Having a Physacal presence like Jeannot would be a good idea imo

He’s got just as crappy metrics as our 2 goalies that are unplayable and had to be sent to the AHL so I think we are gonna keep our 3rd and decline lol

Hawks gave up a 7th for Perry. They gave up 2 AHL caliber d-men for Foligno & Hall. You are asking for a guy they just drafted & a 3rd for a guy who can’t stay in the lineup or reach double digits in goals. Hawks don’t need any more guys that play strong defensively but can’t score, they have enough already. What they need is someone who can keep up with Bedard offensively, Jeannot doesn’t fit that bill.

Well I am the anomaly in Hawks fandom when it comes to Jeannot, I would gladly give up Marcel x 2 and a 3rd round pick for him.

I can’t see the Hawks resigning Tinordi so there is no other physical presence on the team once you get past Foligno… and please don’t mention Murphy. They will need a couple of guys who make other teams pause and think about taking liberties with the young core they are building.

Marcel is 5th round pick who had a very pedestrian first professional season split the AHL/ECHL. A 3rd round pick is a lottery ticket. Jeannot has proven he can play and contribute as a physical presence while chipping in occasionally with offence.

If it doesn’t work out you will be able to recoup the draft pick at next years TDL. If it does you extend Jeannot before he reaches FA.

Having said all that I can’t see Tampa giving him up for that package.

I agree it's not a high return but for Tampa it's basically a cap dump. We need to resign Stamkos and hopefully Duclair. We also need to upgrade the Right Defense so we could use that cap space. I hate giving up Jeannot but unfortunately he only fit our 4th line, he cannot play with Paul on the 3rd because they would be to slow and they both cant create goals that well. I owuld like to see him on the 2nd line as a net front presence but I doubt it will happen.

Actually, Snowhawk, I agree with you... We certainly can't expect Foligno to ALWAYS do that dirty work. With Reese Anderson and Tinordi likely gonzo, who else is gonna step up and cover this duty for the young Hawks? That Jeannot can actually play a little bit helps, too.

They gave up nothing to trade for them but resign them on expensive contracts. Jeannot is already signed for pretty cheap lmao. Marcel is not a good prospect, it's basically a throw in. I could see him developing into a depth NHLer but thats it. Chicago also have a lot of draft picks so a 3rd round pick is not a lot to give up for a 3rd liner.

I think we’ll see Fabbro gone. I think we’ll see Tomasino gone. We might see that 4th gone. I just don’t know if Cernak’s the guy for us right now.

Cernak was insanely good with McDonagh, that is why I looked at the Preds for that deal but fair enough.

Yeah, I’m not taking issue with his salary, Hawks have plenty of cap space. It’s that you think the Hawks are going to give up assets to take him on. Who knows what Marcel will be , he played 1 season in North America. We know what Jeannot is & Hawks do not need more bottom 6 players, they have plenty. You don’t believe me, cool no skin off my back. We live in a free country, whatever floats your boat man.

You have to give up assets to get assets lmao, you don't think he is a good fit then fair enough but to say that a 3rd and Marcel is to much to give for a quality 3rd liner like Jeannot is just wrong.

I'm with the group that say Hawks pass on this. A 3rd and a 19 y.o. prospect just drafted in the last draft is too much for a 4th line one year rental that Tampa is moving out for cap reasons. Which means he's overpaid for what he provides. Jeannot is probably worth a 5th - which Hawks might pay. If JBB wants more than that, he'll need to call elsewhere.

Tbh, the value is in Chicago's favour. Jeannot is very good at what he does. He is on a good affordable contract but Tampa need to improve the defense. So we need to trade Jeannot for that reason. It's a cap dump but not because he is overpaid.

Well we obviously differ on what an early 3rd is worth. Jeannot hits everything in site and will drop the gloves. No argument from me. But his time on ice has steadily declined since he came to Tampa. He provides minimal in the way of secondary scoring. He's gotten worse defensively. He's not used on the PK anymore. Sorry, but what Jeannot is now as a player isn't worth a 3rd to the Hawks. Rather keep that pick and sign a similar player in free agency.

Jeannot doesn't provide anything the Hawks can get for free (only money) in free agency.

Hard disagree, players that are physical like him are usually goons. Jeannot is not, he is good defensively + can provide goal scoring as he showed back in Nashville when he scored 20.

1 time 3 years ago he scored 20+ goals. That season he averaged .3 goals/game. He hasn't hit half that mark since. I'd probably go for a 4th for Jeannot. But not a 3rd, and not including the man with a name so nice you say it twice.

Hawks decline as is. Jeannot isn't worth a 3rd and a prospect.
