Then with respect.
Paying that for ONE YEAR of a player we can neither afford to keep/re-sign or is a position we need is asinine.
It wouldn't take me a 1/2 second to tell Treleving to f*** off and hang up the phone.

Necas
Regardless of what the Wild could offer Carolina, I don’t think they could give out the contract Necas would want, AAV-wise. The dead cap hamstrings them for one more year. I see them signing a David Perron or perhaps Patrick Kane on a one or two year deal to play with Rossi instead. Trade Gus to a needy team for a 2nd. Then they’ll decide what to do with Rossi next summer. It’s still a holding pattern in Minnesota.
Also, JEEk is the most off-limits player on the team.

Necas has been over 60 points ONCE in his career. 2 of the past 3 years he had 53 or fewer points. I think if you're expecting people to value Necas like a 60-70 point player, you will be disappointed in any trade made in real life.

That NMC he has pretty much guarantees it.
But never say never, right?
Marner trades pay the bills on CFACGM. 🤭

I've heard Rossi is available for a bigger player with about the same skill. Pelletier does not fit that.

Again, the Wild don't have the assets to get Marner.</div></div>
No, they have the Assets. They just don't give a damn that he's available and wouldn't bother giving up anything of value for a STRICT RENTAL.
As it stands, Marner at rental prices isn't worth this cost.
Furthermore, Brodin IS elite. Again, a top 3 defensive defenseman qualifies as elite. Don't be daft.

Good player, but not elite. And again, trading a Selke nominated 90-100 point winger for a goalie makes no sense.
I'd prefer the Leafs trade for picks and prospects and take back very little salary in a Marner trade.</div></div>
Uh-huh.
You're right, Minnesota would absolutely trade one of the best defensive defenseman in the league and one of the few you can count on one hand who can skate with and shutdown McDavid on the regular.
A young 22 year old 2C who missed a crucial year of development and who still managed to score 40 points, 21 of them goals, in just his FIRST FULL ROOKIE SEASON. Or did you miss the part where Rossi was a top 3 Calder player for 97% of the season?
And finally to add stupidity to it all. A solid 1B goalie who can play at a Vezina caliber when he's on a roll.
So, yes. Minnesota HAS TO give that up for 1 year of a RW they DON'T need.
Just have Guerin sign the trade forms now. 🙄

I don't think the Wild have the assets to pull off a Marner trade, not unless they want to give up Faber.</div></div>
I’d take this deal in a heartbeat if I’m the leafs. 3 key pieces for the price of 1 and a meh player who doesn’t fit in

I agree that Rossi has more value than Marino, but I also don't think Devils fans would be too excited for a Gus<>Holtz swap. Who do you have as the target for trading Rossi?</div></div>
I just don't value Holtz all that much.
I mostly just wouldn't trade Rossi unless there's some type of forward upgrade or similar player coming back. Knies is one guy I'd do it for. Obviously the Cutter Gauthier talks would have been good with me. There's plenty of other young guys or prospects, but Holtz is currently worse and doesn't project to be better, as a winger. Marino is what he is at this point, an inconsistent 2nd pair guy. Neither of those pieces excite me more than Rossi and I'd be looking for someone that excites me as much or more than Rossi does.
For the record, I understand why people like Holtz and are drawn to him as a target, he's just not for me. I might be trying to put together a list (thread) of my ideal Rossi targets, but I don't want to commit to that yet.

I'm not sure who would want Spurgeon either. I do know that he drops to a m-NTC this summer, so hopefully we can work some magic and get some size and skill on defense.
It's not Rossi for Holtz as a base. It's more like Rossi for Marino and Gustavsson for Holtz.</div></div>
