If Norris can stay healthy this would be great for the Leafs tbh

First of all, it’s more then likely that any Marner trade would have an extension in place. Him having a full no move plays into that. I haven’t heard this “perception” that he won’t extend anywhere. Devils fans must have the inside scoop.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>He's obviously not available, but the price to send him to a division rival like Buffalo, Montreal, Detroit or Toronto especially would be obscene. Unicorn player on a great deal with term, and they have full control over where he goes.
That aside, there's just no sense in adding Marner if you're moving Brady. If Ottawa makes a move for Marner it's because of what those to could accomplish <strong>together</strong>. Marner needs someone who can create space, finish in tight and give him the confidence to play bigger. Brady could hugely benefit from a high octane play driver and an elite defensive forward on his line. If Ottawa moves Brady (they won't) you might as well just shut it down again and build back up around Timmy and Sandy</div></div>
If that’s the case. Which I agree it is. The price to send Marner to a division rival such as Ottawa would also be obscene

Bringing in marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Thanks for proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the Marner-to-Los-Angeles idea is brain-dead and guaranteed to fail.
The defense is miles worse than the defense that just got overrun by Edmonton (Clarke for Spence isn't much of a downgrade while Clarke learns his craft, but Klingberg for Roy is astronomically worse and gastronomically revolting) and there isn't any cap space to acquire some grown-ups to make DuBois a contributing member of society. Imagine, for example, that instead of Marner, we had Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe, Moore - Danault - Arvidsson, and Trenin - DuBois - Fiala, with Spence instead of the Klingon. Moreover, giving up those two draft picks, and essentially taking a pass on this year's draft, is suicidally short-sighted.
But I'm sure that some of your Toronto brethren will keep touting this idiocy.</div></div>
Man Kings fans get way to worked up 😂 I just wanted to see what it would look like

2024 Marner to Dallas with rumored players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>If they made this trade they'd have 5.9 million in cap space to sign 10 players, the league minimum is 775, so even if they signed 10 players at 775k they'd be 1.85 million over the cap and be terrible</div></div>
Like I said they have a bunch of short term moveable contracts. Marchment/Faksa/Dadonov combined 10M. Plus Benns 9.5 off the books at the end of next season. Some Toronto retention might have to happen for this specific trade. But Dallas is rumoured to be in on Marner for a reason, it’s very possible

Dallas does of course does have 10.9 million in cap space next season and has some other moveable contracts. So both teams would be able to do this. But yes this specific trade is unlikely

Worst case he isn’t and we resign him. I can tell you if he only waives for 1 team it won’t be the Ducks. Let alone the Leafs taking on that boat anchor contract from Tom Wilson

Tkachuk gave Calgary 5 teams he would sign an extensions for. He HAD to trade Tkachuck and he still got a good return . Your acting as if the Ducks are the only team that Marner can go to. And again he won’t make the trade for this type of return when he can just wait 1 year for JT to come off the books.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Marner controls his destination. If he says he's only willing to extend in Anaheim and they're willing to do it but only if this is the return, then the Leafs will have to get creative and try to make it a 3 team trade so they get the player they want. It's a tricky situation. If Leafs end up with Wilson it wouldn't be a bad outcome at all.</div></div>
Thank god cap friendly doesn’t run the Leafs 😂. They’ll hold onto Marner before trading him for a 30-40 point winger and a 2nd round pick. Treliving had less leverage in the Tkachuck trade. He’s not going to make some awful panic trade like this.

Marner waives for UTAH
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Niemela in the starting 6 in October? No seventh NHL Dman?
A massive overpay by Utah. They keep their young assets, and just spend 11m on UFA. Why would Marner waive to poor team in his contract year?</div></div>
Niemela is 22 he’s gonna get a chance sooner then later. I figured he could a have a shot at 6D spot. Sure if you wanna get nit picky drop a forward/Murray and sign another D.
Why would anyone trade for a 90-100 point player? It’s almost impossible to sign a player of Marners caliber in FA. (Ik Geuntz might be a FA)
Why would Marner waive for Utah? Read the descriptions ffs
