Leafs aren't trading Cowan, not even for Tkachuk.

Sens aren’t trading Brady for anyone in Toronto.

The deal would look more like:

Marchenko or Johnson + 4th overall
Crouse or Maccelli + 6th overall + 2nd rounder

If Brady forces his way out of Ottawa, It sure isn't going to be to Toronto. Brady is tough while Marner is soft. Ottawa declines.

Crouse and possibly Iginla on the Sens would be a great haul for Tkachuk.

The Sens could build around :

Sanderson, Stutzle , Lindstrom/Dickinson, Parekh and the 2025 1st

With strong support from pinto, Greig, Zub and the young roster piece

Let’s relax here lol. I love Cowan, but I’d send him to Jupiter for Tkachuk

He's obviously not available, but the price to send him to a division rival like Buffalo, Montreal, Detroit or Toronto especially would be obscene. Unicorn player on a great deal with term, and they have full control over where he goes.

That aside, there's just no sense in adding Marner if you're moving Brady. If Ottawa makes a move for Marner it's because of what those to could accomplish together. Marner needs someone who can create space, finish in tight and give him the confidence to play bigger. Brady could hugely benefit from a high octane play driver and an elite defensive forward on his line. If Ottawa moves Brady (they won't) you might as well just shut it down again and build back up around Timmy and Sandy

If that’s the case. Which I agree it is. The price to send Marner to a division rival such as Ottawa would also be obscene

One year of Marner…(one long, contentious year over contract battles)…is less appealing to other teams since the perception is that he will not extend anywhere, and will aim to pad his stats for a big UFA payday.

First of all, it’s more then likely that any Marner trade would have an extension in place. Him having a full no move plays into that. I haven’t heard this “perception” that he won’t extend anywhere. Devils fans must have the inside scoop.

Which is why Ottawa won't be the team that gets marner.

Devils aren’t linked to Marner in any way. I am saying this as a hockey fan.

Marner has NMC, which only makes the return less since there will likely be a limited market in him. It is a bit like Taylor Hall situation in Buffalo. He had full NMC and he picked his destination. So other teams weren’t even bidding. And a Buffalo ended up with a 2nd round pick (mostly paying for retention).

Or another similar comp was Jason Spezza, who both asked for a trade, then invoked his NTC and blocked at least one trade (some said two). Ottawa ended up with 3-4 decent pieces from Dallas but no premium asset.

I think a Marner trade will look a little like those deals. 2-4 decent pieces, but no top player, no 1st round pick, no top prospect. Leafs take the cap space and move on.

If do Chychrun + Norris + 25th overall. Not interested in paying more. Would easily move on to another target

If Norris can stay healthy this would be great for the Leafs tbh
