Kane isn't signing that in Chicago.

Most of those trades are so one-sided for Chicago.

Kakko already made $2,100,000 this past year. There's no freaking way he's signing an offer sheet for a laugh $45,000 more than what he was currently just making.

Rangers match that offer sheet for Kakko instantly. It would probably need to be $5m at least for the Rangers to let him walk. Hawks don't make the Toronto, Dallas, Utah, Ottawa or Vancouver trades. Get what your trying to do, but your trading Reichel for Podkolzin and adding four smallish D men - none of which the Hawks would actually do. As for the other trades, Carolina definitely declines and Columbus probably does as well. Florida might go for the Knight deal.

I mean, he's also a big bust so I'm not sure what you're basing the assumption he's getting a raise on...

If CHI wants him how about they just wait til NYR non-tenders him, or are they still pretending a guy five seasons into his career struggling to crack 30 points and stay in the lineup is some kind of hot prospect?

He's a healthy scratch in playoff games and scored 19 points this year. $5m?? He seems like a non-tender candidate. Five full years into his career I think people can stop pretending this guy is a prospect.

Please read again. I didn't say Kakko is worth $5m. I said that's probably what it takes for the Rangers not to match the offer sheet. Which is way more than the Hawks should offer. Rangers definitely offer Kakko a new deal, and likely match any offer sheet up to $4.5m. Or they trade him for a lot more than a '25 3rd.

Wow! This is a lot to digest.

Let’s start with the draft picks definitely some I like and could live with but just want to point out that i believe there is very little to no chance the Hawks select Trevor Connolly. With all his off ice baggage the Hawks of all teams can’t afford the hit to their brand and image.

Far too many trades, it never materializes that way in reality. Also, I can see adding one RHD, possibly two if Murphy is traded but that is it. No need for Brannstrom since LHD are at a surplus.

I wish Laine all the best in dealing with his off ice issues but let him deal with them as part of another organization.

Considering the length and term of Kotkaniemi’ contract, you have the Hawks overpaying. Carolina should get no more than FC in return, especially considering the cap crunch the Hurricane are under.

With all due respect the Vancouver trade is horrendous for Chicago. With $4.75m x 2 remaining on Mikheyev’s contract it will cost at the very minimum a 2nd round pick to move him. I personally would hold out for a 1st round pick or 2 x 2nd round picks. With that said you essentially have Reichel being traded straight up for Podkolzin which is just flat out bad for the Hawks.

On the positive side, I would take a shot on Knight and have no concerns with the proposal. Florida may agree to that proposal just to free up the cap space.

Sorry, I just don't see who is watching this guy struggle to stay in the lineup and getting outscored by Jonny Brodzinski and thinking, you know, let's move a 1st or 2nd round pick for this guy.

After 5 NHL seasons he's out of excuses and everyone can see what he is.

Trades, signings, draft. Just trash it and start over. This is not a good off-season.

Scored 18 goals last season. Similar pace this year in 61 games. Middle 6 wingers who can score 15 to 20 goals and are good defensively have value in this league. Maybe he never lives up to his #2OA expectations but he's far from a bust.

61 games, the fourth time in 5 years he missed a ton of time.

idk it'll be interesting to see what they get when they finally give up on him but when the big accomplishment to cite in his favor is that one time he scored 18 goals, idk if that's a guy who will ever be in demand. As for his defensive skills, I feel like we hear more and more about them the more it becomes obvious his offensive skills are minimal. 12th on his own team in Corsi last year.

Nils will likely be part of a bigger deal or be given another year to figure things out before being shipped out for a pick. Just my two cents

Laine is basically our "found money" gamble - if he recovers, we get a bonus top-line near-PPG scoring winger. And if he doesn't, oh well, it's only for another two years, and we're not under any kind of cap crunch or other pressure to move on. So if you want to poach him, you have to send us something that sufficiently entices the organization to give him up. Which basically translates to "pay the sort of package you'd expect to pay for a top-line near-PPG scoring winger". He's not a buy low candidate.
