if the rumors of him wanting 8x 4 to 5 were true I dont understand how you dont get that done. He is not getting a better player for 4.5

I honestly don't understand why you would sign Guentz instead of Stammer.
Point production between the two has honestly been similar and Stammer is the backbone of your franchise - not to mention that his asking price is in the 5-5.5M range while Guentz will easily be 8M+.
Hope that Stammer lights it up wherever he goes.

So basically JBB is telling Stamkos he doesn't want him.

Classy. 🙄

Stamkos only scored 40 goals and 81 points last season.

JBB is acting like he's a 4th liner who should retire.

Stamkos will have no shortage of interest.

Agreed-hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. Even if he regresses to a 50-60pt guy there's still value there at 5M.
Guentzel is also turning 30-not like he's a 23yr old rising star. He'll be good next year, but his cap hit in year 6 or 7 will seriously hurt Tampa.

And how do we know Guentzel will even sign with Tampa? 🤔

We don't, but maybe JBB knows something we don't. I feel like tampering goes unchecked in the NHL when it comes to pending free agents.

I just checked to see who Guentzel's agent was, and if he represents any Bolts players. He represents just one: Ryan McDonagh.

Interesting. 🤔

I know Donny Meehan is Stamkos' agent.

Incredibly heartbroken and frustrated. No guarantee Guentzel even works in our system either

People can chalk it up to age but if he performs like Pavelski does for that low of an AAV, BriseBois is going to look foolish when Stamkos still averages around a PPG making only 4.75, 5M, or whatever. Disrespectful to the culture, his team legacy, and the fanbase.

I mean they could even sign both if stammer only wants 4.5, not sure when JBB is cooking but or what the backup plan would even be if carolina gets guentzel

Stamkos is 34 y/o, playoff weapon but even strenght liability. He can't produce much at 5v5, and his defensive game is quite bad to say the least.
Guentzel is 4.5 years younger, a known playoff monster and has a very positive impact 5v5.
Easy to see why you should prefer Guentzel over Stammer.
